i spend a lot of time hiking in the adk's in the summer and have always thought about skiing them. i know people do, but not much beyond that. has anyone hiked/skied the slides of the high peaks region?

Might get more response over at TGR to be honest. People ski them. If you google around you will find useful info on skiing slides in ADK.

I just got into the whole backcountry thing last year. Went to ADKs the slides were a no go for the weekend so just skinned up Marcy skied down the first day. Then messed around in avalanche pass the second. My goal is to eventually to do the slide off Colden into the dike but I need some more experience under my belt.

Tucks on Mt Washington is farther from where I live but the terrain is easier to access. Went there too and had a blast. The workout and getting out of your comfort level in climbing/descending is an awesome rush. Plus hiking/camping in the winter is 100x better than summer imo.
