actually read a good book

I could read this book for extra credit, it is called Fingerprints of the Gods and it is wierd as hell. Coolest book I have ever read. It talks about how all these ancient civilizations are so closely related even though they are seperated by thousands of miles and years. And there are maps from the 1500's drawn from source maps that show antartica as it would be without any ice on it and no one actaully knew what it would really look like till the 1950's. And how lots of south and central american coutries are related. There are way to many things to mention but i guess if you want to read something this would be good. Oh and the mayans knew all this mathematical stuff and they say that most of the world will end in dec. 3rd 2012.

catch 22 is still the best book ever. everyone should read it. not only is it considered a 'classic' of sorts it's funny as hell.

as far as 'classics' go i think lord of the flies has to be up there. i also like philip pullmans trilogy

yea lord of the flies is wierd the guy walking around wit hthe stick sharpened on both ends at the end. i didnt like it as much as most other people i know

yeah, the His Dark Materials trilogy is good, but we can't forget LOTR or even harry potter, i liked those books dammit!!

If anyone likes symbolism go for Franz Kafka or James Joyce... the expressionism is a bit hard to follow sometimes.

i read the metamorphosis by kafka... i didnt like it very much because it wasnt easy to follow it. im finishing up catch 22 now and i really enjoyed it. one flew over the cuckoos nest was also one of my favorites.

read Bodega Dreams. i had to read it for school last year, its about coming up through spanish harlem and facing corruption and stuff in the ghetto. its wicked funny too, 'if shes old enough for fisher price, shes old enough for this device' - direct quote from the book. it was real good and its a quick read, i flew through it in like 2 days

I loved LOTR, those books were absolutely rad. I also love reading Tom Clancy and other tech-thrillers....

I didnt like Lord of the Flies that much, it seemed a bit... erm... strange, haha..

Metamorphosis was another strange one. Kinda sad too, poor guy got a rotting apple stuck in his hide, haha

Another book that I could suggest people to read is The Red Badge of Courage

yea, i hate it when people say that Harry Potter is better than LOTR. the story is so uncomplex and childish, it just doesn't compare..

 
Lord of the Flies is amazing!

I love LOTR too.

John Wyndham has some pretty cool stuff for people of just about any age as well. Day of the Triffids is KEWLLLLLLLLLL

LOTR was the best (3) book(s) I've read in quite some time. Another series of books that was very good was enders game, enders shadow and a whole bunch more I don't recall the names of. solid sci fi.

vonnegut. that's all i have to say.. anybody and everybody should read slaughterhouse five, it's a perfect book for our generation.

 
There is a really good Aussie author called Nick Earles. I don't know if any of you guys have heard of him.

I read Lord of Flies in year 10 at school, I didn't like it that much.
