Action needed QUICKLY

seeing as there are thousands of snow-lovers on this site, i think this is an appropriate place for a global warming post. i'm bascially trying to persuede anybody who reads this to start promoting the use of biodiesel as your primary source of fuel. This includes pure vegetable oil.

I'm sure you all know what global warming is, but do you really know how real it is? Not only are rising temperatures already forcing EVERY other species on earth to re-adapt to their home, this warming is melting our icecaps and glaciers at alarming rates. Here's a fun fact: in the last 100 years, our avg. global temp has risen 1.4 degrees-1 of those degrees coming from the last 30 years. It's suspected temperatures could rise anywhere from 7-10 degrees within the next century-the last time it was that hot was 75 million years ago.....in short, snow for us, AND for future generations (wouldnt you like your kids to see snow like we have?) has already started to slip away, and will continue if we dont act soon, and fully commit to helping for the better cause. Right now, our government is spending billions of dollers clearcutting areas in search of fossil fuels-that money could be spent towards the research of much friendlier fuels. RENEWABLE fuels such as canola oil. There has been a recent study shown that ALGAE could support our vehicles 100% with oil because we can grow soo much in such a small area, without raping land. and it's not seasonal dependant.

what are the 5 hottest years in the past century and a half you ask? in order of hot to hottest: 2002, 2003, 2004, 1998, 2005! (1998 was helped by the warm el nino).

I'd just like you to take this into consideration, and hopefully realize that if us snow lovers dont do anything to help the cause QUICKLY, winter will get much, much shorter. Spread the word, give some astounding facts...hell, protest and write letters if you want!

Peace

you dont need a new diesel car that's efficient. mang like 3000 for a 1990 diesel, convert to run on grease.....thats efficient, 4000 all together, then free gas for life!

which ones? i get them from different places, but mostly from a class I'm taking on biodiesel. i was intrested in this before taking the class, it just helpes give me some extra info!!

wow, people are rediculous. I'm not complainig about this season either, i live in washington and we've had record snowfall. that doesnt rid of the facts, this season is a rare occassion, have fun with it but dont take it for granted OR expect many more if you dont help out

Global warming scares the hell out of me. At the rate we are going, in around 50 years the ice caps are going to melt compltely, raising the sea levels nearly 20 feet. This is giong to destroy so many low lying areas. Most of florida will be gone, half of New York CITY, most of the south. It will fuck us big time. I wish I had a diesel to run on bio diesel. We have hybrid though.

Maybe some of you have snow but over here Bromont has many runs open due to artificial snow! We got a lot of rain this year.

its not the cows production of methane dude, its the fact that if you have ever studied biology you will know that only 10% of energy is transfered to the next trophic level, meaning to produce 1 Kg of beans (same amount of protien as beef), it required 10 times as much land to produce 1 Kg of beef. im not saying dont eat meat because meat is very tastey, but if every one laid off so they only ate a meal of meat 5 or so times a week, and replaced the protien with beans, soy, or my favorite... HEMP SEEDS (taste just like sunflower seeds but with as much protein as chicken meat, more protein and Omega-3 than any fish, as well as all essential vitamins except B12.)

global warming also results from the useless consumption of energy; blaring music louder than it needs to be, leaving lights on, taking showers longer than needed yes water uses energy, how do you think it is heated and cleaned, and pumped to your house.

then there are cloths, this may sound off topic, but sweatshops contribute a huge amount to global warming, they are mostly on the other side of the world so it requires alot of fuel to transport the goods all the way back here. the reason canada and the US are so high up on the greenhouse gas emissions per capita list is because we own all these multinational corperations that are based in canada but are producing green house gasses all over the world.

our useless waste of food produced more methane (the most potent of all green house gasses) than anything else in the world. even composting un eaten food produces methane. the amount of waste in land fills creates a huge amount of methane.

then reycylcling and product choice, most coffee shops will fill a reuseable mug if you bring it, styrofoam is the devil, most spray containers no longer use CFCs however the production of styrofoam requires a huge amount. yes it sucks that styrofoam doesnt bio-degrade and will be in a landfill for a very long time, but the worst part is producing it, and we keep not recycling it, which means more needs to be made. creating more CFCs and ruining our already diminishing layer of Ozone.

but yeah there was alot of other info in there.. but all in all beef production has more harm to the environment than just the methane.

i heard a theory that due to global warming there might be a next ice age. Just like in "the day after tomarow".

Then it'd be seasn pass-valid from 01.01.05-01.01.06

um... yea you need a diesel car for that, and not everyone has or can afford that. And then you have the buy the whole set. And if everyone starts using biodeisel than people are going to start charging for biodeisel and its going to become a huge mess so fuck it.

they will prob have in-door ski areas soon like the 1 they just built in saudi-arabia or sum where around there

its in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates... how ever if any one knows anything about physics, you will have heard of the laws of thermodynamics, so yes there will be a time period where indoor skiing will be all we can do, however I for one enjoy skiing outside, and two cooling an area that large requires a huge amount of power... that massive energy consumption will in turn heat our atmosphere, and eventually it will be so expensive and inefficient to cool down an indoor area because outside is so warm, that no body will put in the money to finance ski areas.

yah...like the melting ice caps is supposed to interrupt the north atlantic current which brings warm water north, causing the weather to get mad cold...but who knows...not me

all this thought about the future makes my head hurt.

But seriously right now bio-desiel is sooo cheap b/c very very few ppl use it. But if we all went out and bought a desiel and did the conversion, the price would go sky high! Eventually all cars are gonna unforunatly be either hybrid, electric, or bio-desiel, that is dissapointing to me.

converting a diesel engine to run on veggie oil doesnt cost that much. and guess what. veggie oil IS FREEE!. you can get it from restaraunts who throw it out.

you speak nothing but the truth.

and sure, there may be a chance it could bring along another ice age in some areas, but if all the ice caps melt away, half our continents will be gone due to flooding and stuff!

if its warmer out we get more snow..fuckin chill dude.. were gunna die sometime and were going to have snow until we die and unless your kids are ging to live until their 100 their going to have snow and their kids i would have no connexion too really just great grandpa so im alll gooooood

For a little while we would get more snow. Someone tried explaining this to me once. Like the bodies of water wouldnt freeze over as much and there'd be more water in the atmosphere but for a while it'd still be cold enough in the winter for it to turn into snow. So we'll actually get more snow for a while. but eventually it'll start getting to the point that the water wont turn into snow in the atmosphere and then there'd be a rapid decrease in snow.
