Acne

You probably don't have bad acne, or don't care about girls/appearence. 5 short months, for an acna CURE, really is not bad. I make it sound worse than it really is.

I depends how bad it is and how much it bothers you...

I've had acne for a while, sometimes worse than others, but never terrible. It seems like stress does affect it, and I can't help an outbreak within the half hour after my forehead sweats, which is annoying. I have a hairy chest and a fair bit of chest acne, does anyone have the same problem? I use the same stuff I use on my face (cetaphil), but it doesn't really work. And it definitely decreases over the years.

food plays a role in that certain foods make ur skin greasy which can worsen it and as to the acne it really depends on the person AND the dosage, my dermatologist is very old and im guessing smart and he put me on a very SMALLL dosage like i heard sum ppl taking 80mg a day thats like 4 pills i only did 1 pill a day for like 6 months, i only had very bad side effects liek dry lipes for like the first week then they were still dry but nothing a bit of chap stick cant solve, and i had like very flaky skin for one week, tbh i really didnt have any other side effects. IT IS WELL WORTH IT IT IS LIKE THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS IF U HAVE ANYTHING MORE THAN MINOR ACNE. i finfihsed taking it a year and half ago and haven't gotten one zit since.

im an acne wonder patient. actually no. it took forever. but my face has no scars or any sign that i had terrible acne. and trust me i was terrible. i had a fuckin red ant farm on my face. and they werent small little pimples, it was like 20 deep sists that hurt like hell and they wouldnt go away, and they formed new ones all over.

1. DONT DEPEND ON PROACTIVE. the wash is awesome for just a cleanser, but all the other shit does nothing but irratate your skin and make you uncomforatble. i tried it for 2 months and so no sign of improvement.

2. DONT POP. all it does is make them more noticable because they get red, swollen, and they spread. when you see white, yea get rid of that, but dont squeezze the shit out of it.

3.GO TO A DERMATOLIGIST. best thing since post it notes.they pretty much magically made ebverything go away because they subscribed me...

4. DIFFEREN FACE GEL. a gell that you spread over your "bad spots" at night and leave it on. i still use it now when i get problem spots because they go away in 3 days top

5. TETRACYCLINE. a subscription pill that dries your face, but doesnt irritate or make flaky. also no fuckin side affects that kill your stomach like other types.

6. NOT ALL MAKE-UP IS GIRLY. not gonna lie when i had an event where i needed to look good, or i was feelin overly self conscious, i would put some cover up on, and everything went away. i didn\t fuckin pile it on my whole face like some chicks, but just enough. trust me.

1 in the morning 1 after school 1 afer sports 1 before i go to bed

i go to boarding school so its not really waisting money for my family

but yeah ill waist as much water as i want aslong as i feel clean.

during the summer i dont get bad acne so i limit it to like 2 to 3 showers

im big into showers ask brian or grimace...they will tell you

whenever i get lazy and dont shave then have to shave like this big fucking mammoth beard off my skin gets mad irritated and i get like a ton of mini zits. anyone know why?

mine isnt that bad, but i used proactive once and it gave me sooooo much more acne, such a wase of $20.  i think that for people who have like unhealthy amounts of acne it works a little, but for me it fucked it up... maybe a skin irritation

ACUTANE! that's all you'll need.. don't waste money on proactiv and shit

my sister had terribbbbbbble acne and she used this for a 6 months

and unlike the other guy her only side affects were dry lips (chapstic fix that) and she got some wierd rashes on the top of her hands occasionally. srsly, I felt so good for her now.. before she loaded make up on to look half decent, now she looks fine without any make up.

butt.. for girls you have to take birthcontrol pills cause acutane can make you're baby deformed .

its okay mike, we still love you

but ive never had any, so im siked

my family has good skin, so im not complainin

you guys ragging on this guy are worthless pieces of shit. imagine if your face was full of acne? you would feel embarrassed and low. Honestly fuck off stop getting an e-high by bringing some guy with bad acne down, he mad a cover for him self, leave him alone jesus.

that works, but it's not a huuuge deal... i still have between half a bag and a full bag a day...

what is a huge deal is greasy foods

- fries

- pizza

- pop

- etc...

They shouldn't have taken it off the market years ago. what they should have done, is made the adjustments they made two years ago, to rid lots of those side effects. They also adjusted dosage techniques.

And finally, all that "bad stuff" isn't actually linked to the accutane itself. If someone has acne bad enough to consider something that supposedly makes you suicidal, they're probably depressed enough about their acne as it is. If you have anxiety issues about going on it, and that triggers depression then you probably shouldn't go on any medication because theyre the type of person who "gets" every side effect.

The itchy eyes are a bitch, the dry skin sucks but in the end, it all pays off.

By the way, accutane came out almost 25 years ago now. how old are you?

It came out 25 years ago? Wow I was under the impression it came out not too long ago. Learn something new every day. I will admit accutane fucked with my head hardcore but then again I was stupid when I was taking it. I wasnt informed that you werent supposed to drink while taking it and I drank alot. And it probably didnt help that my 'rents separated during the time I was taking it.

So they have adjusted the drug and whatnot? Because I was very surprised to read this thread and see how many kids are on it

they adjusted dosages and did something else to it less than five years ago. It came out around 22 years ago, though they did the tests about 25, my 45 year old uncle was on it at the age of 20.

Yeah, the drinking would've made things real bad in your head, because the drug itself causes tissue dryness (that shyw kids have joint pain, not enough lubrication), and that seriously messes with your head, because it needs proper hydration more than anything, and the water loss caused on top of that by the alcohol really fucks kids up. Its not just about the liver, which is something they seem to have in their heads

Take Tetracyclin (sp?), prescription stuff and gets rid of all your acne. I took it until my skin cleared up and now I only take it when I get outbreaks, otherwise I just wash my face with neutrogena acne soap.

The only side effects to Tetracyclin is that it can cause heartburn in some people as well as make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so no sunbathing after you take it or you'll look like a tomato.

it also harms your liver though. if you keep using it like you do though, at one point the bacteria that cause your acne could potentially develop resistance. accutane has the potential to get rid of it forever. from what i can tell, it binds to the part of DNA that creates the sebum, and prevents it from getting transcribed, so its a lot more permanent.

acutane is an answer, i've never tried it but it works for everyone. I don't know if I want it though with all the side effects, and blood taken every month... I'm on minocycline twice a day, and I put on 10% benzoyl peroxide twice a day. My face gets really dried up with that, but nothing some lotion can't fix. Also, I found this a few weeks agohttp://www.acne.org/regimen.html ive been following it a bit, and it works a bit for me. Follow that, it might help.

I wouldnt say I have bad acne, But i wash my face literally 3-6 times a day. Alot of people may think that this is bad for my skin, but before, when my acne started developing, and I tho0ught once or twice was good, I broke out like crazy. Occasionally I will go for a week or so without washing my face to often, and i just break out again. It kinda sucks, But right now its good. Id suggest just washing your face with a light clenser quite a bit just to keep the oil off (i find neutrogena and spectro work best) and use a facial moisturizer that wont clog your pores.

i went to the dermatologist a week ago and he hooked me up with a special cream and pills (not acutane) acutane is for when you have big kyst like red pimple, if you have alot of white heads thats just normal acne = no acutane. And contrary ot popular belief, bad eating habits have NO effect whatsoever on your condition. So yea go get that shit looked up by a specialist and he'll give you what you need. (also, all those pads, and clearasils and all are a bunch of bullshit)

I was in the same situation. I had terrible acne, tried every cream on the shelf, tried tetracyclene (something like that...its an antibiotic). I eventually went and had Accutane prescribed to me. I was on it for two months and it was bitter hell. My lips were incredibly dry and cracking and bleeding, my joints where stiff and sore, and believe it or not, it definately induced some depression on me.

Accutane is notorious for causing depression, and I definately experienced it through my treatment. You won't even realize it until your treatment is done. You will look back and think "wow I really was depressed." But it works. It even cleared up those little black zits that grow on and around your nose. I literally did not have a single one.

If your "friend" wants to take accutane, make sure that he has a chapstick on him at all times. If I forgot my chapstick at home one day when I was at school, I would literally suffer for the entire day.
