ACL Surgery

On the Canadian side of things, I tore mine in February and am getting one of two surgeries in September. I have, in fact, managed to tear both ACL's, hence the two surgeries. But it's actually kind of sweet because I'm only going to be out one season and the second surgery is 8 weeks after the first.

Super stoked to hear how fast the recovery times have been for you all, I was totally expecting like 12 months not 6 so thanks for giving me hope! And yeah, public health care means super long waits for surgeries, but I've found that I'm perfectly mobile and the only problems I really have with my knee are when I get wasted and try dancing around the bar.

tore my Right knee's acl, mcl, pcl, lcl, meniscus and broke my tibia in multiple places in the end of january. Had the surgery in early march- shit is still crazy swollen. But i was skiing 6 months out of my left knee surgery and have had no problems with it (knock on wood). shit takes time but its all good eventually

im guessing you didnt tear your miniscus, they shouldnt be letting you go past 90 untill 6 weeks.

i tore my ACL and miniscus in December, we set to have surgery less than a month after, got mono, couldnt do the surgery so they had to put it off till march. Now im right about 4 weeks out and i feel like i could walk on it but im not gunna do something stupid. Quick question, i have slipped a few times and landed almost full weight on my miniscus, didnt twist or pull or anything like that and nothing hurt more then it already did, the doc said NO weight on it till the 6 months and i have been good about only touching my toes and stuff like that, but do you think there is any chance i fucked something up again? I think its just me being parinoid figured id ask.

and howmuch have you guys done out of therapy. I go 3 times a week for an hour but have been kinda slacking on the other stuff. I do quad sets constantly and just started to get straight leg raises about 100 times a day. Is this a good amount for right now from your experience? thanks

sorry for the long post then the duble, but how long did it take you to get back to jogging on a track and stuff like that

I'm 2 1/2 months out of ACL/meniscus surgery. I was told 4 weeks no full weight. 0-50-75% over the four weeks. About two weeks in I got out of a car and put my leg down like normal and put all my weight on my knee and I thought I heard a pop, I freaked out but it seems to be fine. I think I was paranoid. After that I put like no weight on to the point my PT was like you HAVE to. I was overally cautious. When he told me I could walk I didn't believe him. I can start running in a week, but I still don't believe it.

I think you're doing plenty, at least you're doing more than me haha. I start therapy again in a couple days since moving back to VT.

haha ya I was in the same situation, I had surgery march 3rd. I was so chipper when I came out of surgery and then the next two days when everything started to wear off I wanted to die. basically your leg just underwent a major trauma so you need to rest it, but you also need to make sure you are periodically moving it, to prevent blood clots and keep your ROM.

basically i was on crutches for like three weeks. and now i'm doing pretty good, i only have pain becuase i had a patella graft. the hardest part is just the waiting game and the contanst battle of feeling good, but worrying about doing too much. I am just taking it day by day

Had surgery on my left knee October 2007, kind of messed up the rehab by not finding a PT place for the first month ofter the operation. Anyways was skiing hard again a couple months ago... until I ate it, tumbled and felt a pop in the right knee. fml

claimfest 09 i had acl surgery jan 15, skied a pow day last friday and im runnin a 5k this saturday.

keep yo heads up!!!!

i did tear the meniscus also

my doc said i should be at about 90 a week after, but the meniscus shouldn't affect my pt really except for the no weight bearing deal so I assumed that meant bending also, i have a CPM.

should I not be going past 90?

Hey did you have scar tissue problems? I did my acl, mcl, meniscus on august 30 and had to wait till feb 10 to get surgery cos I couldn't bend my knee properly or anything... it sucked so bad but at least all that time doing pre-hab has made the rehab so much easier.
