Acetone nail polish remover as a base cleaner?

well, a few weeks back when it got really warm the lifts were dropping oil which completly stained the bases of my skis and im afraid to wax over it. at the moment the only thing i have is a bottle of acetone nail polish remover and i need to know if it is safe to use on my skis. i dont think it is straight acetone though because it has some other shit in the ingredients and it says it is protien enriched?

so should i use it before i wax? worst case I'll just go another day without a wax, but im going skiing today so help quick, thanks.

NO, just hot wax ur skis and right after u finish spreading the wax all over the ski take a plastic scraper and take the wax off while the wax is still hot. this cleans ur base just as good as base cleaner. base cleaner is terrible for ur skis

yeah, thats what i figured, i just skied them this weekend without waxing and the bases kind of cleaned out then i waxed them and they look pretty clean. i was just worried because it was such heavy grease shit all over my bases but its pretty much fixed now.

Hot Scraping is far better than using base cleaner..

In my view, base cleaner should only be used if you are going to be doing some serious base work.
