Accutane Pain?

Ive been on it for two weeks and am experiencing some annoying side effects. My leg joints are about as smooth as a door in an old victorian home, my back aches, my ribs feel like my lungs are imploding whenever I do any upper body workout, and my calf muscles are too sore to run. I have stopped taking the pills as of yesterday and havent yet been able to talk to the derm. I was reading some horror stories about the drug on the web (yes I know, brilliant idea) and found that many claim to have suffered permient muscle and joint damage. I knew about the risk of depression and was willing to cope but Im not sacarficing my physical being for a chance at an acne free face for a month. I was just curious if any nsers have had the drug and experienced similar problems. Am i quitting too soon, do the effets go away? I have been unable to reach the Derm so Im just looking to hear some opinions. It really sucks because I can't run or ride my bike without considerable pain. I don't entirely like feeling like im 50 at age 18.

accutane is a powerful acne drug for those who don't know. It basically cuts the problem at the source by turning off the body's natural moisturizers.
 
i dont have any experience with that stuff, but with the side effects you had, definitely good that your off the stuff
 
took it for like 4 months or something about 3 years ago, had zero side affects other than (more) easily sunburning. i've been acne free since, besides the occasional like pimple every few weeks or w/e. everyone's body is different though, so i would definately get a derms opinion if it is getting serious like that
 
my brother takes it and his face just gets really dry and red. Hes been taking it for like 3 months and its taking away basicly all his acne. It also says if u fuck while on it ur baby will be so messed
 
just something on ur workout comment. i've never been on it or anything but one of my friends was and he told me the doc told him he wasnt supposed to workout or lift very hard at all because you would be sore and hurt much longer and much more or something like that so idk. ask ur doc i guess
 
that's because it's just like acid or shrooms or drugs in the way that stories spreads. one person hears about how someone took acid and thought they were orange juice and they spilt off the table and died, and then people start spreading the story claiming that they heard of this one kid who took acid and...

it doesnt make sense that depression and suicide come with the medicine. i was in a bit of a depressed state when i had bad acne, and while on accutane i could see the great progress i was making, and it made me happier. im not doubting that their haven't been cases where it did contribute to severe depression and suicide, but i highly doubt that accutane alone causes these things.
 
I had like 2 zits and then my dad wanted to put me on that. I read about the side effects and I made an effort to not go to a dermatologist to get any.
 
i took accutane for like 5 or 6 months and it worked miracles on me. I never had a single problem with it. Have you been getting regular blood tests, because it can really fuck with your liver. They made sure I had checkups every so often to see I was doing well. On the other hand, my girlfiend's friend got really fucked over by it. And to the kid who was talking about screwed up babies-- that's if a woman takes it when she is pregnant. You can fuck a girl when you are on it, it wouldnt do anything. it fucks with the fetus inside the woman.
 
accutane is working so well for me. im on month 3, and the only side effect i have had is hella dry skin. i can tell its working tho. im just so stoked not to have acne haha. the doctor says that i probably have to take it an extra month than most people tho. Oh one thing i have experienced while on it is nose bleeds.
 
i have the dry skin and nose bleeds as well as the initial flare up. So far I haven't experienced anything good from the drug. Im disappointed that im having such intense side effects as it seems many of you had good luck using it. Maybe i need to lower the dose; the derm started me at 80mg a day.
 
Search Accutane in the searchbar. I have made many knowledgeable posts about it. I really don't want to repeat again. But first, stick with it 100%, or give up. Don't go on of on off. It's not a drug you can mess around with like that.
 
im on it now... on month 5 (last month) and i am so ready to off of it... i mean the only side effects that i have are dry skin and i have a tonnnn of dry skin like all over my body, but its really only after i take a shower and then i just throw cream all over my body and it fixes it.

I also play varsity lacrosse and it makes running somewhat harder which sucks, it makes my lower back and pelvis+knees like seem locked... im just ready to go off of it and be normal and not like some sickly person... and 100% ACNE FREE!!!

oh and it also makes like cuts and shit and like cold sores and stuff longer to heal...

LOTS OF CHAPSTICK!!!!
 
your stupid. the only reason that that has been made a big deal and brought up issues is because it happened to a governors daughter. she was on the pill, and had an ATTEMPT at suicide. he's been trying to get the drug off the market for years.

but yes. my back killed when i was on it, but as soon as i went off it after my three months it was back to normal. in my eyes, since i had no real side effects it was totally worth it. one girl though that was on it with me, did have some liver problems since it can eat at your stomach lining.
