ok id just like to know a few things thing: 1. why all the attention on weed? surely more kids are getting messed up by alcohol by many orders of magnitude over those negatively affected by cannabis use.

i also noted something a bit unusual on your "mythbusters" page. under "weed cures cancer" it said there is no known medical use for marijuana, but it is currently being prescribed as both a pain reliever and an appitite stimulant, and was widely used medicinally before the 1930s all over the world.

this sets an unsettling precident - when you go out and tell kids "theres no medicinal use for marijuana" and they know this is untrue, what are they going to think when you tell them steroids can make them impotent? or outline the REAL dangers of cocane and heroin use? youre setting a dangerous standard of mistrust with people.

and i thought the point of this whole campaign was to allow people (mainly teenagers) to make informed descisions and trust themselves in the choices they make and the effect these choices have on their lives.
 
alcohol and weed and other drugs are sensationalized in this country which causes a lot of problems. this is somewhat unrelated but in germany drinking and driving isn't tolerated at all. if you are caught you aren't allowed to drive period. and if you kill someone in an accident and you were drunk, i think they might kill you too. (not sure about that stuff, but i remember reading something like that somewhere, someone back it up or tell me it's wrong)
 
personally i have no beef with the way things run right now. weed is illegal yes, but how easy is it to pick up a couple g's? fairly fuckin easy. i feel everything works out just fine right now. weed has a bad reputation and probably wont change anytime soon. the only thing im against is little retarded 13 and 14 year olds starting to build their street cred. i started cause i wanted to see what its like to get high. i liked it and me and a couple friends would do it once and a while...and its fuckin fun we have good times. alcohol is defiantely more dangerous in a long run i must say. does weed make you want to fight? not at all. does alcohol make you want to fight? yes. alcohol is behind the violance not weed
 
they'd rather you get hooked on oxycontin if you have cancer, weed isn't addictive enough to be legal.
 
dude i just woke up after being passed out for 76 straight hours i have the needle still in my arm scabbed over, mykids are starving, my dog is dead, and i shit my pants twice. i totally agree black tar heroin is the shit
 
my thinking exactly. ive never had trouble picking up a sack and if it was legal we would have to pay a shitload of taxes for it

watch the movie reffer maddness, i saw it it was a movie made in the mid 20th century. Its the main reason why weed is illegal they were gonna pass it as legal but then this movie came out. Apparently it was supposed to be a documentary but pretty much what happened is taht when some guy got high he went around with an axe and killed people rediculous so pretty much it should be illegal
 
I completly agree. If they lie to kids about weed, and they know its not true, they wont believe stuff about harder drugs and shit.
 
i agree with the thread creator. weed is not really bad if used responsibly.

alcohol and cigarettes are worse by far - yet they are both legal and weed is not.
 
Oh my god. I love Reefer Madness. It's complete propaganda. Total bullshit. I reccomend watching it during a chill sesh, it's hilarious. You can probably find it in the cult classic section or something. They also made a musical-parody version of it, which is kind of funny.
 
I love the animated cartoons, i just laugh every time i see it. The alien one is the best, because its just so fucking stupid.

i agree, everything is quite desensitized in todays society. if there was an available database that was easily accessible for teens and all people providing them on true, unbiased information about drugs and alcohol, the world, and teens of the world would be much better off. I do smoke about three or four times a month and drink like every other month but i feel a database would be very usefull

Before i started smoking weed I just saw it as another bad drug to look down on, but I was still curious so when I got offered and did it I relized it isnt this crazy drug that makes you start tripping out and do stupid shit, it was a very chill high. Everything is just good and chilled out, friends become closer friends and everything is just really enjoyable. Not like xtc enjoyable where you love everything and everyone its just right.

I seriously dont understand why "abovetheinfluence" is so fucking anal about marijuana, I mean 1 its not addictive, 2 you cant die from it, and 3 it doesnt fuck with your brain like other drugs such as coke will do

Im so sick of above the influence and all these other anti drug people they should focus on shit that is actualy important, ive tried coke and know kids that are addicted to it and they have completly changed because of it, the drug seriously fucks with their brains and starts making them do really stupid shit. If a kid i used to be friends with is wanting to fight me because im not doing coke with him something is seriously fucked up.
 
This cracks me up the most (pun intended):

In health class, they state in our textbooks "doing something just because they tell you to do it does not make you cool"

then 2 pages over, it shows some friends with word bubbles going "I'm too cool for drugs, and if you're cool, you won't do drugs either"

so basicly they are contradicting themselves. I pointed this out to my teacher and he danced around the subject like George Bush during a debate.

when i thought of heroin i thought of junkies on the floor with needles, blood, scabs, cists, and really fucked up shit.

it scared the life out of me, i was never gonna try that shit. UNTIL

i found out you can harmlessly smoke it off a peice of tinfoil and never put a needle in your body.

well my life is fucked now and i really dont know whats going to happen. every fucking thread i have addressed this drug in i have been like ya, im getting clean blah blah blah. but tomorrow im forreal trying to kick. it will be the hardest thing i have done but fuck heroin and fuck our society for presenting it ALL WRONG to us.

uhh my driver's ed teacher was talking about weed and shit and said there really isn't a big use for it for medicine, there is always something that can be used instead, better. he said the doctors that prescribe it guaranteed smoke it themselves. but yeah i don't get why all the focus on just weed.

anyways, I totally agree that it definitely is lame how these anti-drug campaigns run. I knew from the start of dare that it was bullshit cause one of my best friends smoked pot in 6th grade and told me I'd end up doing it, and he is a kid that has his shit together, so I figured he was right. also I always wondered why if there were only negative side effects like paranoia, impaired judgment, dry mouth, etc like they say, then why would people do it? or like for cigarettes, why did people smoke them? there had to be a reason, it couldnt just be all negatives.
 
They should just legalize it. Then teens wouldn't make a big deal out of it, because once something is okay to do than people aren't interested in doing it.
