About bindings.

I plan on trying to get a whole new set up this year. I already know which board and boots I want...but I just find it hard to think about what I want in a binding. The only thing that stands out to me, is that the plastic straps always break from the wear and tear, and cold. Strapping them on and off a million times a day.

I teach snowboarding full time, so I am out on the hill 5 days a week whether it be teaching or riding.

So, what do you guys look for in a binding, and do you have any recommendations for any strong lasting bindings?

No Burton.

If you want a good solid binding and your looking for comfort and durability withought burton. I would look into salomons. They hold up mad well and are comfortable

look at union the force is probably one of the most durable binders on the market. indestructabule heer cup, beefy buckles it is the binding built for the guy who rides hard and is out everyday of the season.

They were older models when they first came out. Maybe now they got better. The face plates spun on all of them, they would always come loose and the bindings could move back and forth

Force

A team favorite, the Force is designed for the 100+ day-a-year riders who demand a bombproof binding that can take on any condition and terrain, every day of the week. All day comfort, and season after season dependability is what sets the Force apart from any other binding in its class.

go with union wont be disapointed

Whats wrong with burton? All the hard goods I've ever bought from them have never broke and I still have my cartels and they're super nice

What's wrong with Burton? Christ, lets see if I can copy and paste from the numerous threads I have posted in.

They are one of the first snowboard companies to exist. They had quality products, good prices. I was a dedicated Burton customer/supporter. But over the last 2/3 years, their hardgood products have simply shit the bed. Maybe you got lucky on your pair of bindings, but I went through two pair last season. The Lexa's and the Cartels. My friend went through a pair. She also went through a pair of gloves within the span of 2 months. I have heard far too many stories these days to even think that they care about their product more than their name.

When they decide to match their prices to their quality, I'll think about buying again. But until then, I won't purchase Burton.

pretty much any binding will wear and break over time its just part of snowboarding. technine makes the most baller binding at this current time

tech nine yeah that is why they are just about bankrupt. plus i know they have a life time warrenty, but they need one thier shit breaks all the time. you can get it replaced but i rather not deal with the hassle.

oh and to who ever said bindings break all the time from just wear and tear so you have to deal with it. that is not good if you buy a quality binder you shoud be able to get atleast 3 or 4 100 day seasons out of them. and lets see as far as burton goes i rather pay 200 dollars for bindings that last then 300+ for something i will have to replace.

ride mvnt series, i like the betas a lot

rome 390s

Those are my picks for the park, idk what you ride when your not in lessons. They rock the mountain pretty well too

I don't think a park binding can also rock the mountain. Maybe...but chances are, no.

I am a freerider, not a freestyler.

I meant like the general mountain, groomed trails and shit. And a binding made for freeriding would def win

I just meant that they ride well enough, neither of those bindings are really stiff either. I assume you dont want to much flex for the mountain/bc

RIDE LX. sick bindings!! i wanted the same thing as you, strong solid bindings, and that what i got. its got a solid metal base, and heel cup. The straps are deffinatly strong. metal ratchets. and i got this warrenty on them at the sports authority(were i bought them) that said if any part on the bindings breaks, they will fix it for free or give me a brand new pair.

yeah i got some forces, magnesium heelcup, titanium buckle parts and a lifetime warranty on their zytel baseplates = strong light and awesome. had em for a season so far, but i envision many more

they are not the lightes binding out there, but by far they are not the heaviest. they arte lighter then my burton P1s from last year but heavier then my drake MLBs . i would put them at average weight. but oh are they ever so responsive. i dont think you can go wrong with them if you are truely an all mountain free rider. i love mine. so much better then any thing i have ridden in the past.

^ Thanks dude. You've been more than helpful. Of course performance of the binding is important as well, which was my next question.

I think this is what I'm gonna go with. What's the average price on them?

Thanks for everyone's help. I think I am set on what I'd like to get. And a double thanks to you Worf. Karma!

Update:

I ended up getting the Union Milan's, because they are a womens binding (rather than the Force, which is the mens binding). And it said they are for someone who rides hard. I've only ridden them one day, but I am already stoked on the performance. So thanks Worf on the recommendation! I am very excited to be riding these. Hopefully they hold up to wear and tear. :)

UPDATE! My Cartels are officially shot, I now see why they are bad, they were fine last week and now they're about ready to explode.

Yeah, my cartel ratchets jammed up. So they don't release smoothly anymore. =/ I tried to email them about new ratchets, but they said to check a store first, and if they didn't have any spares, then i'd have to send my whole binding in for inspection. =/ Just a little weak.... I ordered some Union Forces a couple days ago, should be here in the next couple of days. Probably gonna retire my Cartels...
