Ab/bc parks right now

hey guys, just wondering how the parks around here are shaping up right now, like places like sunshine, norquay and other hills, what are the parks like and more importantly, how are the jumps and how big are the biggest ones?

Rabbit is the best I've ever seen it. They have a fun 35 footer into a huge 70 footer. Big 10 foot step downs on each of them. The 70 footer is the biggest jump I've seen since Louise 3 years ago. Sick rail set up right now too, lots of fun lines and jibs.

Panorama at the moment has 4 boxes, 1 rail, 1 [Small] Medium jump, and lots of piles of snow that will be bigger jumps. Not worth it right now just for the park, but I've heard that they are expecting the full park to be done in a week or two. When its done it will probably be the biggest and longest in the region.

are you cereal? I may have to hit up rabbit soon I guess cause COP's lack of a jump over 20 feet is very annoying

any pics of this edmonton 70footer?

if its nice its probably the only reason i would ever head up to edmonton haha

the rule is whenever you heara bout a "HUGE" jump at rabbit you divide the seize by 2 and then you add the fact that it probably sucks

rabbits park is quite good. im not a fan of the big jump considering the knuckle is a slow roll over to steep, and the landing is about half the size of the deck. but the rest of the park kicks ass

sunshine has 2 small jumps in a row, they are at least twice as big as cops "jumps" though.

there is also a faily mediumish jump that isnt open yet. its like the same size as last year

theres not many rails but lots ofr fun boxes

Not sure why people who haven't even been there yet this year are saying anything about Rabbit's jumps.

As of Dec 29, its a 68 foot deck. It launches you high and far, but the landing is short for a jump that size, but also steep. If you got the speed right, its sick.

mediumish?? dude where do u ski? they're as big as cops jumps when they were big...i think u need to check ur size of jumps out dude...

now that was a time.

on another note, the shine has fun boxes, a some small jumps, with one being built which you would definitely describe as 'medium'.....not big, but not small

Update on Rabbit's park:

They rebuilt the landing on the big jump. Its now 64 feet (measured) with a much longer landing than before.

The 35 footer's landing also was made longer and the lip reworked for more airtime. Both still have 9-10 foot step downs.

big table at rabbit is 70-75 feet to the sweet spot, landing short of that kills your legs and going any bigger than 95 ish you are landing in the flats which also hurts. I was skating in from above the park and was proably landing 85-90 each hit. I didnt think the step down was 10 but it was like 7 ish i think. its rabbits bigges jump for sure, only thing that comes close was the 50 footer a few years back on skiers right o the park.

"As of Dec 29, its a 68 foot deck."

I consider that a big jump. Just because its the biggest doesnt mean you call it big when someone asks how a park is.

COP never has big jumps

PSA: Panorama's Park

...is still being built. The park they had over the break was small (1 rail, 4 boxes, one bad table). Unfortunately, mountain management decided that park was low priorty this year, so it was pretty much the last thing to get worked on. They've gotten to it though, and it looks like they have almost all the snow blown for the halfpipe, and probably for the tables as well. Should be done in a week or two.

I heard they made the jump bigger again, up to 75 feet. I'm going this weekend, so I'll give you a rundown on the jumps. So far Rabbit has been pimp for park. I was riding Sunshine the other day and actually missed Rabbit's set up. They just know how to set shit up right. Good for trying new tricks and good for stomping techy stuff. And it actually looks good, not all roughshodden like Sunshine's did.

They're also doing a good job of maintaning the features throughout the day, closing a rail for minutes here and there to fix up the lip or whatever. Curtis, the head park dude actually closed the jump after he saw me eat shit from catching my tips on the lip and raked it for me.

You're talking about the middle one. Or else you're blind.

I'd say that the bottom table is between 60-65 feet just by eying it up. The park crew measured it at 68 feet from lip to landing, seeing as it has a fairly big step down I'd say that make it about 60-63 feet long.

Yves, where are you skiing that has 200 foot jumps? Also where are you skiing in Alberta that has bigger jumps than Rabbit, except maybe Norquay? For the last time the big jump is at least 60 feet and the middle is about 35. If you want to be a downer go do it somewhere else. Thanks.

Ok, I'm done with this whole thing. I was just trying to give people some specs on jumps. For the last time, the jumps are between 60-65 feet and 35ish feet Not make believe feet, but real, 12 inch feet. If you don;t believe me, go to the hills, ride the jumps and see for yourself. I'm stoked on the biggest and best jumps Rabbit has ever had and stoked on skiing right now because of them.

Everybody else, have fun riding whatever jumps you like to hit and enjoy your 10 footers and your 200 footers.

im at rabbit alot, like 3 times a week. its not 65 feet, its close, but 65 is huge. i want to measure it though, looks can be decieving, it maybe like 70 feet. i did see 2 kids die on it tonight tho.
