do all of this and you will have your games running fine
1- install all windows updates
2- Get the latest Direct X version (9.0c)
3- get the latest video drivers.
4- reinstall the game
5- install the latest patch
(those 5 steps are assuming you have no viruses or non game related problems)

Please don't give these people a reason to assemble unless you plan to carpet bomb the place... they'd probably combine to form some sort of evil pro-skier-kidnapping/raping crime syndicate. hey, how about not. my computer is fine. in fact, the only issue is my graphic card.. bu i dont really see how it could/would jsut make the game crash, and nothing else without an error or anything... i think i'll get the drivers for that first though.
