13589761:ski.the.east said:for the price of ninja + A7S I'd look into the A7Sii, it's got internal 100mb 4K and the new better design of the A7ii and A7Rii
13590033:RockNRollNghtClb said:idk so i can color grade the footy a bit more, i was thinkin skiin i could maybe just put it in my pocket
13590038:eheath said:On paper that could work but i think it'd be pretty annoying IMO and honestly a pointless piece of gear.
13590041:RockNRollNghtClb said:yeah im thinkin if i did it id just get the 4k ninja, pretty insane that for about 1600 you can get an a7s and about 970 (with student id) you can get a 4k ninja. for 2570 you can have a camera setup that shoots 4k up to 108060p
13590042:eheath said:I wouldn't even want to shoot 4k 60, you got a custom computer setup? 4k monitor? Just playing devil's advocate
13590045:RockNRollNghtClb said:why not? theres like no compression when you watch it at 4k on the web, but ive got a mb with a 4k screen, its annoying tho the gh3 footy looks so fucking good before it hits the web, just want something that will look good online with a decent grade
this looks so nice at 2160
13590075:eheath said:You won't even be able to edit full res 4k on your computer, just saying.
And you get very caught up with how other peoples shit looks and seem to worry too much about your equipment. Buy new stuff if you want but I think your shit looks fine dude, keep filming with your homies and just have fun, thats when you'll make your favorite edits.
13590142:RockNRollNghtClb said:yea tru tru, but why wont i be able to edit 4k on my computer?
13590233:eheath said:4k 60p at a high bit rate will choke your computer, trust me. 4k from a gh4 made my computer at work choke a bit and thats no where even close to what you're talking about shooting. You need a shit ton of processing power for 4k 60p @300 mpbs like you want.

13590035:RockNRollNghtClb said:yeah it doesnt do 4k 60p though

13591116:p.hawks said:Does the 960 speed things up in premiere (cuda/gpu acceleration)? Just asking because I have a xeon e3 1231v3 (slightly downclocked i7 with no graphics/overclocking), 16gb of ram, and a gtx 980 SC, and it would be sick to be able to use all the power of my 980 for editing (once I have time to edit again).
13590035:RockNRollNghtClb said:yeah it doesnt do 4k 60p though
13592049:ski.the.east said:ok...? The Ninja doesn't record 4K 60p either, good luck finding a cam that does in the rough A7S price range, even the new FS5 doesn't do 4K60p

13593925:plorr said:A Ninja on an a7s would be absolutely pointless, unless you just needed it as a monitor. It doesn't record 4K, and the A7s doesn't output 10 bit over HDMI. So basically you'll just be making huge ass 10 bit files with a negligible gain in quality over the internal XAVC.
A GH4 with a Ninja might be worth it, since it actually outputs a 10 bit signal. 10 bit GH4 V-Log footage is actually pretty nice to work with. But still, that would be a pretty clunky setup to use on the hill.
When the Blackmagic Micro camera finally ships, that will be another interesting option for shooting action sports. 10 bit 1080p60 with 13 stops and Blackmagic's sexy color science? I'll take that over 4K any day.
