A video editing question

When you're in a video editing program and you're overlaying a picture on top of the movie for a title or whatever, how do you make the background of the picture opaque instead of having the white background show? I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements 10.

I'd say find a photo without the background or photoshop it out.

I use one of those two.

Unfortunately no. You can get a free program that can do it called GIMP though. Or a free trial of photoshop would do the trick.

adobe premiere pro =/= adobe premiere elements. pretty sure elements is free?

Elements isn't free, but it's far cheaper...maybe it's free for students.

Answer: Photoshop! or a photoshop knockoff. Both should have that ability. Additionally, I know Powerpoint can remove backgrounds too, if you have an up-to-date version of it. I don't know how to do that though I just know it can be done.
