A/V Question

im preparing to hook up a fatty system to a potential television...but im running into some promlemos...

the back of the stereo/receiver has a video/phono/aux input...but it only has a red (r) and white (l)...which are both audio...the tv has white (audio) and yellow (video) outputs...none of the combinations work at all...no scratches in the speakers, nothing...and i know everything works...is there anything i should do/try? the tv im using now isnt the final one...hopefully not..but a tv is a tv and that shouldnt make a difference...but this would be nice to figure out...so ya...i dont want any speculation bull shit...just facts and experience

hmmm make sure your TV has surround/additional sound on. make sure the Reciever is tuned to which ever one you plug the white cable coming from the TV (video or aux input) play with the mono and stereo on the reciever because you're only getting input from the left channel of the TV (if it's set to mono it might only be playing the right, unused channel)

If all of that fails, get something else that had an output and keep the reciever on and just plug it into every open audio slot, that way you'll know if it's your TV that's not working the way you want or the reciever.

If all else fails stick ALL the wires up your ass and you'll forget all about your problem.

My TV doesn't have any audio outputs, so I hooked up my VCR (which does) to my stereo. Then I just always have the TV tuned to the VCR channel, and us only the VCR remote.

 
Red and White are the colours indicating audio and yellow indicates video. what you can do is use a Y spliter from your TV output into the stereo so at least you will be feeding both channels but you wont get true 'stereo' sound. Normally the outputs on a TV will always be powered (though a video output on a TV sounds a little strange, normally its only inputs) first suggestion I have would be to try with some other piece of hardware (or get an RCA to Stereo (headphone style jack)) and plug that into the stereo and make sure the outputs are workign fine. I would also do this to the back of the TV and find the input or line in channel and make sure thats not actually a set of inputs and not outputs.

yah, i dont know what the deal is...don't think im illiterate with this shit...im just using a designer imposter costco tv...i guess shit aint workin cuz the av is an input...eventhough it doesnt say
