a twin that can carve like a GS ski??

Ok, so I need one more set of skis to complete my aresenal. I have PR's for powder, 1080's for beaters, STL's for park/pipe, and TM's for pipe/piste. I was going to get the Volkl 6 star for next year, which now I think they are calling the All Star. But now I am thinking that I would really rather have a twin tip ski that can carve the hell out of groomers and grip on serious east coast hard pack. Is there such a ski out there? Any suggestions? Atomic?

 
I would say you have enough skis. If you want something to carve, why would you need twins when you already have 4 pairs of twins?

These will replace the TM's for piste. I will always take a few runs through the park. I like a soft ski, but there are some days when they just do not ski well... like when it is super hard or icy.

 
^Yeah, it probably is the only twin that you can say 'carves like a GS ski' and actually mean it... although I'm sure the Karma is about as good as it gets as an all-around.

You can replace every ski you mentioned (keep the STL's) with Karmas, awesome carving twins. Just get a little longer than your used to- or they'll feel short

mad trix is definatly a stiff ski.

it is the ONLY twin tip ski that can carve the shit outta the hill. i have mine and they rip. i demoed a few skis before but none carved like this baby and it still kills the park

no i'm not... but if you guys would get out and demo them you'd know they rip. the only gripe i've heard is the third metal plate makes rail slides vary in speeds depending on hom much metal to base you get on the rail. elan is making some of the best skis out there, with the elan ripstick being my favorite for next year.

 
people always rip on elan but they did ( or do, idk) make armadas. as far as what to get, i'd say karmas or madtrix are the two stiffest stix out there

 
^ Pressing your skis in another company's factory does not mean they 'make' your skis. Guy above that, I think pretty much every ski anyone makes these days can be said to 'rip'. Who would want to make a twin that sucks? They all know what they're doing, and they all make decent skis... and yet I don't think I'll be skiing on Elan, ever, because there are just certain directions I'd rather send my money.

i will second that every company out there is making a good ski. i wouldn't go so far as to say they all rip. i have my own opinions on what companies are stepping it up and making the better ski and i have my opinions on what companies are making the less adaquete ski. i won't share them, but i do encourage eveyrone to get out there and demo each company. i garuntee you will find some companies are making a ski far superior to others.

hahahahahaha.......definately look at the assassin mtx pro's. i ride them and they are ridiculously fast AND stable. And i would definately say that you can 'carve the shit outta the hill' with them. just as the GS racers that demoed them (i forget what magazine it was in). They said that it was an incredible carving ski, and i would trust them on that end of the spectrum.

yes, JD May, they arent exactly matched in tail and tip height, but they are twins. i can ski and land switch absolutely fine with them. the tail is 30mm, TM's tail is 37mm.

not a lot of people give the scratch fs enough credit for all mountain, especially groomers. the skis hold a really solid edge on huge turns but you just have to drive the edge a little to get it started

Of all the twins I demoed, as far as GS type turns go, the Elan MO2 wins hands down.

It's the only twin I was able to load up and explode out of turns with. A really really fun ski. Holds an edge as well as my real GS skis.

I plan on buying a pair (as soon as I find some)

My only complaint is the top sheet scratches very easily

line assasin mtx pros are a sick ski, stiff for carving at high speeds, got the twin for in the park and they have a little width to them for when your out of bounds (spelling?) i love them, great ski

Public Enemy's arent bad for carving. Just keep the tail sharp. The reason most twins arent good for carving is they wash out in the end of the turn.
