A Sign of the Times

First it was newschool skiing, then it was the golden era gangster age, then it was the new wave, now it seems as though the pendulum has swung as far as it can towards the progressive, liberal end of things. It’s time it will swing back. I think this means traditional tricks and outerwear will make a comeback. Wearing streetwear on the hill won’t be the norm. There will be a deemphasis on future spins. People will start thinking for themselves and not only rock on3ps mounted with pivots and track pants. I think we’re heading into an all new golden era, where it’s possible all of the waves of the past will converge into a unique wave.

It’s going to happen in every area of life, I think. Not just skiing. I believe there’s going to be an overall return to tradition and institution. People are finally realizing that letting our men dress up like a fairies and pretend to be girls isn’t good for society. That canceling people and destroying their careers just because they said the N word 15 years ago isn’t constructive. I can’t wait. It’s going to happen everywhere, all at once. In fact, it’s already begun. Get ready for the best years of our lives, people.

Wouldn't a return to tradition and norms in skiing completely go against everything freestyle skiing represents? This take ain't it

I think he means just a return to the freedom and individuality of traditional(all-mountain non competitive) skiing instead of sticking to what the current wave is, not going back to the pinnacle of skiing being only racing.

I dont understand the hypebeast trend in park skiing. baggy gear is aight but some people going out there with gucci, coach, and other high end designer shit and get really dizzy off of rails. Does motion sickness exist to them?

But like what's the difference between just following the current wave and being inspired by it? Cultural understanding? Motivations? Skill?

I feel like we should just let people do/buy/ride what they want. Except for fursuits, I don't wanna see that shit on the hill. Visual equivalent of blasting obnoxious music from your bag
