A-rod makes 88 cents a second

yea when he signed with texas, some local haters (rightfully so) made a website that was just showing how much he was making every second. It was ridiculous.

almost 4000 $ an hour. it just pisses me off that someone who is naturally talented at a sport gets 10x more money then a normal guy working his ass off 40 hours a week just to get by.

he is possibly the last professional athlete who would consider donating any of his money to charity

arod gets payed that much because people like the second guy love sports enough to make it into a gigantic industry, that said arod is easily the highest paid athlete in any sport which is gay cause he is a huge douchebag

something that will top a-rods misery.... i want to know how much L.A. galaxy paid Beckham for each second that he played.....the number will be outrageous

that is not true. He is the highest paid athlete in team sports and has the largest contract in team sport history, but if you count endorsement deals and such, noone can top Tiger Woods. he made 100 million last year i think, and has been on top of that list for a while. i think the second and third guys were indy car racers (helio castroneves adn someone else maybe?)

Yes, he makes me almost ashamed to be a Yankees fan. His skills are undeniable, but he doesn't have the class to be considered a good person.

What has he ever done? His manager dude leaked all the stuff not him, he seems like a pretty nice guy.

I'm not big on arrogance. The way he carries himself just bothers me. Rivera and Posada are true players on that team. They play their hearts out and they leave it at that.

This one CEO who comes by my work sometimes, makes 5$ per second...if you calculate it at 40 hours/week.

i somehow doubt that just the galaxy paid beckham because his coming to the MLS was for the MLS and not the galaxy. they sucked with and without him, and im sure the league paid most of this salary in order for him to come to the us and play soccer

back to a-rod, the only single thing i can possibly respect him for is his potential for possibly breaking the hw record, which....lets not get into any arguments about bonds.

really? cuz thats a shit ton

$5 x 60sec = $300

300 x 60min = $18,000

18,000 x 24 hours = $432,000 (in one fucking day)

432,000 x 365days = 157. 7 mil a year

I said if you were calculating it into a 40 hour work week, which is the labor standards in Quebec.

If I remember correctly, he was making aproximately 40 mil/ year.

Funny how you say that. Because it is you that watches sports like a religion that allows him to be paid that much. If you don't want athletes to be so rich and be big heroes, stop watching sports. simple. Me, I am going to continue routing for my team and be perfectely fine that the people I'm rooting for are making a lot more money than me.

Its more like 18,000 an hour for 40 hours = 720,000 a week

720,000 a week times 52 weeks = 37,440,000 million a year

beckham was earning 38 mil this year, 250 mil, for this year alone including endorsements, according to the the galaxy's pg, he played 252 mins of soccer this year. So take 38,000,000/ 252=

$150 793.651 per minute, to get per second /60

$2,513 per played second!

you realize that CEOs are on salary and they typically work more than 40hrs/week, right? depending on the time of the year and the business, i've seen a few of my dad's close friends who are CEOs work 20+hrs per day for weeks on end. my dad's a partner at a big accounting firm in Chicago and from roughly early January until April 15 he typically logs more than 140 billable hours per week.

just because they're a CEO and make bank doesn't mean they're sitting on their ass watching other people work. the chief executive officers of major companies that i've met are all VERY hard-working, smart, dedicated people who earn damn-near every dollar they make.

I don't think Beckham even compares to A-Rod. Sure Beckham got paid a shit load, but he took an entire sport in a new direction in this continent. people are gonna watch baseball no matter what, if ARod didn't play on the yankees they would probably still sell just has many tickets, whereas with Beckham, everywhere the Galaxy went was like a YAY SOCCER parade.

filling seats is like the number one goal. thats how you make all of your money if your the owner.

considering the personal risk the three CEOs (and the handful of CFOs and partners at various legal and accounting firms) i know have taken, i'd say they're being fairly compensated. these are people who saved for YEARS and invested huge amounts of their own money into their business to get them going (a good friend of our family started Blockbuster, Boston Market, and Waste Management) and deserve every penny of their salary. around 90% of all start-up businesses fail, which is not an encouraging statistic when you're an entrepreneur, and gives me reason to believe that if someone is willing to take the enormous risk with their personal assets to start a business, they should be equally compensated if the business is a screaming success. it isn't as though they just sit around and watch everyone do work- most of the time they're the hardest working people involved with the company.

sure, there are some who are grossly overpaid and don't "earn" any of their seven-figure salary, but there are many, many hard-working CEOs who are laughing all the way to the bank when you try to tell them they're overpaid. think about it- if you invested your life savings into Blockbuster Video and it took off, wouldn't you want your millions? i'll go ahead and answer that for you- "yes".
