so in snowboarduing they have companies that are core that only make bindings or Boots my question to you people out there is if someone started a dope ski boot company with lots of sick riders and dope boots would uu invest youur cash in them over say salomon boots if they worked as good if not better?

that company would have to prove to me that they had good quality boots its not about good flashy riders its about product

full tilt boots look verrry dope as far as their performance, they dont look very steezy, but hey, i dont think ski boots will ever look super steezy

Dalbellos a good company too.

agreed, they look very sick. the thing about ski boots is that it takes years to pefect a design. there i no way a company could just start up and be making high quality boots for a good price right away. they would just be like any other boot and it would be harder for them to compete without amazing manufacturing for many years backing their name

I only buy boots that cool people where!(sarcasm) There are a bunch of companies out there making great boots. It will be extreamly difficult to start up a company. First, you have to learn how to make an excelent boot, better and cheaper that the multi million dollar companies that invest millions of dollars into doing that too. Second you need a machine.

This should be your game plan

1. collect boots

2. ??????

3. Profit!!!

I have actualy put a lot of thought into something like that. I would sketch cool boots and bindings during class. So my only problem would be the molding and the marketing of the items. Oh yeah and the tons of money investing into it.

I might fiddle around this summer with all my old boots.

or if some big boot company saw promise int he newschool skiing scene and they created a side brand idk if that counts or not.

Orrrr if someone from a major bootmaking company left that company to start a new one much like technine or rome coming from burton. thatd be dirtay

how about you dont walk in it. it is a ski boot after all.

boot molds are way too expensive and theres too much thought that needs to go into them

Problem i sit takes alot to develop a quality ski boot..more to it than u think!!

Do throw all ur eggs in 1 basket would be very expensive and not very profitable currently eventually yes it will happen but as we stand developing a company on boots alone is not smart...the cost of producing a decent boot is alot more than u think!!

I have given this some thought, and I need to be very wealthy from something else before I do this. An expensive but necessary propostion.

New boot molds cost a shit load of money, not to mention a small, independent boot company will have to come out with something very creative. It's a risky thing to try. Look at Line being the first "core" company to create a binding. It was a great idea, but didn't quite take on... they also had a boot out in the past. It fit alright, but there was still some better stuff from companies that have made boots for a while.

line's binding was a great idea, and worked well, but it was heavy and had major durabillity issues with breakable parts. they didn't have the money to make a second version of it that fixes the flaws, though i wouldn't count out seeing it a couple years down the road since they're under the K2 umbrella now.

i think binings might be possible for a company to make, especially if it was like the pivit looks.

the new looks and rossi's suck and i bet if a company could make a pretty decent pivot binding again alot of people would buy it.

and since park boots like the spk are coming out, they are becoming more like snowboard boots and alot of the important stuff for high tech race boots means nothing in something like spk's. so there would have to be alot of development.

i think it would be tough for a core boot company to get up and running + major profile..

There would arguably be more R&D $$$ spent on boot technology than skis, so it would be difficult.

It would probably work with potential clients like NS.com members, but outside of that it would be a hard road.

^ - too many skiers are loyal to boot brands that work for their feet, its not like changing skis based on graphics or flex - boots work with your feet or they dont.

that is why i buy the head mojo boots, way better than piece of shit salomon, look nice, and are very good all around boots. salomon boots lick fucking nuts when you switch to pretty much anything else. they are built like a fucking chinese motorcycle.
