a Question to the Mountain bikers?

I'm looking for a full Suspention bike with Disc Brakes and Bombers, I don;t care about anything els realy just as long as the back shocks arn't RST but my freind has a DS1 and he paid 1650 for it and I Was woundering if theres any bikes out there with Disc and bombers for about 1200-1450 and if u don't know any around that price what about some with like rock front and disk fot about 1000

all the prizes are in canadian and I was just woundering if I dream a little to much here?

Look at used bikes, youll probably have to make some mods though, ebay if youre risky like that.

If it wasn't for date rape I'd get laid a lot less.

ya I kinda was looking for a new one but I'm pretty sure that a DS1 is the best deal you could get but wanted to be sure, I don't realy want to bye second hand bombers...

Are you talking Canadian or American money?

You should check out hardtails as well. The Norco Sasquatch (available pretty much only in Canada) costs about $800 US.

i was just thinking if I bought like a shity soft tail frame and put bombers on it(650) and disc(300) then I could work it that way, but I don't want a hard tail, It would be ok but I don't think it would hold up any better then my gary fisher witch I pretty much destroyed of the size jumps we were hitting...

I got my DBR full suspension with V's and rock shox front and back for NZ600 - US290. That was a pretty swank deal off a mate. Then another US300 or so for a front disk but I didn't buy that in the end. Bikes are quite cheap in New Zealand. If you want a hard out downhill bike with disks, shivers and 9' rear then go for a LAHAR or a KEEWEE, made in NZ, great bikes, real cheap too.

Sweet I think that I'm just gonna bye a DS2 then but put bombers on it right away, then later get disc

You might be surprised by how much a hardtail can handle. I think the biggest drop done on one is about 25 feet.

okay, misconception killing time:

1. Spend money on a frame. If you have to put shitty components on it at first, then do it. The most important part of your bike is your frame, everything is built around it.

2. You will become a MUCH better rider if you ride a hardtail. It forces you to become smooth and have more control.

3. I dare you to try and break a 24 Bike's Le Toy III or a Surly or a .243 racing bike. Cromo hardtails are the strongest fucking bikes in the world! Want one that you may never ever be able to break? Get an Evil Imperial.

4. Don't buy a giant, especially one of the DS models. Trust me. I have a ds-2..well, had, it's sitting in piece on my floor cuz i am trying to sell off as much of it as i can cuz it's a sack of shit! I'd much rather be riding my Evilution HT or my Stinky!!!!!

5. Don't be cheap and get something just because you think it's a good deal. If you can't get the better bike right now, wait a month or so and save up your money. you'll wish you did.

Hmm... go with the gts for that price... the i-drives are good... hm... i dunno i get my stuff from factory so i'm not sure bout the price but a stinky is worth just under 2 grand... i ride a stinkyprimo and it's super nice... stinky is it's little brother.... oh well... hope that helps.. yeti had some good points so listen to him... i agree though.... i prefer my hardtail for everything except huge downhill riding.. but yea drops and trials and strees riding are way better.. you got more control... good luck dude

some varly heavy dirt jumping.. Drops like a maxim of 7 feet high but I think that I'm gonna get a DS1 and put fox shocks on it and the pesrson taht I ride with has a DS1 to and he has more ballz then me so if he brakes it on somthing I just wont try it

If your just dirt jumping, don't get a full suspension. In Fat Tire Fury, the people riding the dirt jump course with huge jumps still used hardtails. Go for a Norco 250 or 125, or a 24 Letoy if you want to build it yourself. Those frames are designed for dirt jumping.

hardtail is a bike with no rear suspension.

yeah, that norco is pretty heavy, but it's not really meant to do anything but go downhill.

Fairygirl: Why must you be so damn good looking? Why?? lol

nipe: Thats right Diabhal, because we're skiers

well, raleigh is world famous for the CRAP they put in stores around the world....as if they're trying to make a quality free rids bike...they don't have the reputation, any self-respecting biker wouldn't touch that piece of warm hippo shit

haha, i busted a letoy 24, snapped the rear chainstry, i got a new one that i couldn't break though...then i sold it.....maybe it was defective, but i was pissed...but kinda proud at the same time.

If you're serious about gettin a deal like that, i can hook you up...how far from ottawa are you?

send me a message and we'll hook somethin up

giant has an awesome line of cross country bikes. Very high quality and good performers.

It's just they don't make a good freeride/dirt jumping bike.

get an ironhorse...really good quality for the price...we're selling an ironhorse ginsu at sport chek right now for 1500 cdn with disks, full lx componentry, manitue black forks (fuckin sweet) etc....get something like that...or a divinci...canadian made baby!!!

Geez D-Spin, if u really want a full sus then hook up with PocketRocket, that's a sweet deal.

But if ur dirt jumping (bmx style) and doing medium/small drops, get a hard-tail freeride bike.

hmmmm COVE mmmmmm.

= The Only Person Stopping You Is You =

Ya I think I'm gonna by this nordc hard tail with bombers and disck for liek 1400 its a pretty sweet deel but at red bike they have those nordcos with real thick frames ( forgot what there called for only 2200

Holy shite, some of you people need to nlearn a thing or two about bikes. Just listen to Yeti. Or me:

If you're doing N.Shore/Freeriding/bigdropsandair then obey the following:

DO NOT buy a Railigh, Ironhorse, anything at any not-specific bikestore like fucking Sportcheck. The bike will fall apart the first curb you drop off.

Pay no attention to the deraileurs and shifters; the most important components next to your frame and fork are you cranks and bb, rims (BURLY) and hubs. Crapy shifters, deraileurs, brakes, levers, seats, tires, can all be replaced, but a good chassis to start with is your main concern.

For complete bikes, check out Norco. the have amazing bikes for very low prices. For a hardtail, if you're serious about riding, check out the 125 ans the Sasquatch.

Don't read Mountain Bike Action or Mountain Biking while looking for a bike. They know nothing about ''shore'' bikes. Their idea of a freeride bike is a Specailized FSR Enduro or a $9000 Foes DH bike. Check out Dirt, a british magizine.

But, dude, stay away from crap bikes with ''weightsaving'' components. Bikes break, some more than others. Check out nsmb.com and ask this question on there message board.

Be smart and ride hard brah.

Sigs are really starting to bug me.

dont buy that ironhorse, it weighs more than Phrosty's mom

and if you really want a full suspension cheap, seriously just buy the k2 attack 2.0 it's only a grand, witha a good fork and decent components...and if i say decent, they're decent, and then you can just upgrade as you go, cause the frame is solid

ya thats with shivers, at read bike the took all the best componets of off diffrent bikes and made one kick ass rocky mountain and just left the White vps with 8 inch bombers and some normal disk brakes and fox back for 2200

d-spin...U.S or CDN??!?!

cuz if that's CDN $'s, i am gonna buy three at that price and sell them off here!

for the record...ironhorse makes shore bikes...the head tech at our store, who just left to work at the frickin bike university in california owns an ironhorse with 9 inches front and back...they hold up no matter what you say, they just dont have the name behind it...and i agree that sportchek bikes suck...unless you get the high end ones

anyway, i really like divinci...they make awesome frames, and the componentry on their bikes is awesome...i got a full suspencion divinci that was 1 year old (still new, just last years model) with 4 inches front and back, full deore xt components, hayes hydrolic disks, isis drive race face cranks, race face head set, bottom bracket, and chain, sunrims rims, bomber front fork and rock shox back shock with all the dampening adjustments etc. for 1400 cdn and it's pretty light too, it's sorta a crosscountry full squish bike

*snickers* rock shox rear shock...hehehehehehheeh i am soooo sorry d00d ;-)

'I am going back online. I feel safe there.' - Piot Modrak aka lord_piot

Frostmonkey

it's the top of the line rock shox rear shock...4 inches of travel with adjustable oil dampening...it's also the x-c model so it's damn light...and whatever...it came with the bike and i have no more money

hehe not to bash your bike...but rock shox makes HORRIBLE rear shocks.

For a couple of years they were making pretty shitty forks too...but they've fixed up the boxxer and the psylo is coming into it's own...still not really a freeride fork though.

Just make sure you take car of the shock and get it serviced a lot...cuz blown seals and the such are a drag.
