Ok, yes, I should have specified easily extractable oil. Canada also has shit loads of oil in the tar sands. I highly doubt we will see this extracted in our lifetime, as regardless of what that article say, it is still extremely costly and difficult to get at this oil. If it was as feasible as they make it out to be, we would surely already be extracting it.

My bad, it's six months, not six weeks, still not a very substantial amount. I highly doubt that the amount of extractable oil is anywhere near 16 billion barrels, since that report came from a bush appointee and during the first major battle to legalize drilling. Even if it was that much it's barely two years worth of oil if it all stays within the US, in which case it wouldn't do much to lower the price of any imported goods from outside of the country.
