This is just an idea, I'm not saying that I'm doing this necessarily but would any of you guys pay $5-$10 for a day of one on one filming with an edit (sponsorship etc...) by the end of the week? I've been wondering about this kind of business idea for a while.
 
i wouldn't say that's a great "business" idea. it's called freelance videography, and any reasonable professional will charge a HELL of a lot more than 5-10 bucks. If you're serious about it, and a skilled professional, value your time. If you're not serious about it, and not a skilled professional, then maybe 5-10 bucks is your going rate.
 
everyone has got to start somewhere, at least the first few edits you make wont be for free and you can cover some costs of filming, skiing, and traveling.most people start by doing free edits for friends, seems like finding pros to make a free edit for works as well...
 
Im trying to get connected with better skiers and i figure that one way to do this is to be recognized as a good local filmer/editor, and one way to do that is start small with local kids at my home mtn and then build up from there.
 
You could quite easily make some $$$$ by just filming some rich gapers around holiday season and charge like $150 a day. They think there pros, you get money, everybody kind of wins, aside from the gapers reputation
 
Not trying to be a dick but i watched some of your stuff and your gonna have to work a bit more if you want people to start paying you to film them.
 
^i honestly thought that was not bad, but then again im not that into film and don't know too much about it.

and not that im an amazing skier by any means that would have a need to be filmed, but 5-10 bucks really isn't that much, however you might have a better chance trading video skills for stuff like gas or grass, or just be nice and film people to refine your skills

to be honest the 5-10 bucks you'd make wouldn't be worth the amount of time needed for the edit/filming plus all the effort it take to go to the mountain, have a pass, etc etc. Film people and have fun doing that if its your passion.
 
Ha far from it, but I wouldn't even mow a lawn for under $10 when I was a young lad, film an entire day and make an edit for $5-$10? Like shit that's no fucking money, at least like $50-$100 would cover your costs.
 
the Hosmer Point video had some cool cinematography, I would suggest for your first couple of projects to just tell your clients that they decide what the edit is worth to them after its done, this will give you experience and respectable earnings without ripping any one off.
 
Dafuq? I did not know the economy in the US was that fucked. SRSLY 5 bucks a day, thats just weak. Ohh well Obama probably gonna fix up everything huh?
 
I wasn't sure what the pricepoint would be, that's in part why I made this thread, to get some opinions. Now that I think about it $10 is really cheap.
 
Honestly the best way to start is offering companies to put their logo in your video for free. Then from there make deals with them for product then eventually you could ask for money. That's the way I started and teaming up with companies is the best way to go.
