okay. i was on painkillers when i made this thread here it goes again.

My friend and I were skateboarding home from hanging out with a few friends. At a highway 4-way intersection the light that allows you to walk wasn't on, but since there is a median we skated to there and then stopped to make sure no cars were coming. There is a turning lane that was green at the time we were crossing previously that turns into the road ahead of the median ( second half of the crosswalk we are on). It then turned yellow so I went knowing that it would turn red and then allow us to cross. As I'm crossing, 3/4 way of the way to the end, I hear my friend yell my name and before i know it I see blue lights and then I get hit. I end up off of the road luckily and then I hear police sirens immediately after the feeling of the hit. The police man pulls over the guy around 50m away off to the side of the road and a few minutes later comes over to me and says an Ambulance is coming and is asking me if I'm okay and so on. Turns out the reason the cop was behind the guy in the first place is because he was already being a 'reckless' driver and was about to pull him over. I later find out while I'm at the hospital that his last name is Zahn and that he is 17 years old, two years older than me. I wondered if I could possibly know him, so I looked him up on Facebook and found that I've seen him before a few years back in elementary.

I just felt like this is an interesting story and decided to share it.

I don't think that was very smart of you to cross at the yellow light. Most people tend to speed up to avoid stopping at the red light. Glad you're OK though.

If you're injured, you should definitely try to get some form of compensation. He shouldn't have been turning, especially if you started while it was yellow and he hit you when it was red, that means he had to have run a red.

yea i did exactly the same thing on my bike this year, it was completely my fault, as this was yours. definitely a bit of a realization, i was getting pretty cocky with disregarding the rules of the road on my bike. a lot of people do the same, but i treat biking on the road like driving a car now

A lot of people do not realize that you're supposed to ride your bike following the rules of the road.. traffic lights, right side of road, no sidewalks etc.

sounds like you almost killed you, shitty luck but I bet you're gonna wait for the red light next time right? or at least look first.

vibes though OP, injuries?

You could make so much money off that dumbass its not even right, especially if you were in the cross walk.

it's retarded that he didn't kill me. We hit a tree sideways on the passenger door (where I was sitting) with no seat belt, after almost flipping it three miscorrections in a row, while ending up almost horizontally sideways, off the road.

Yes, i'm incredibly lucky to be alive.

My assistant principal almost hit me while I was walking home. She was texting and exiting out of a entrance only.

to everybody asking if i'm okay, yeah i'm doing alright. the main body part that got injured was/is my foot since it got run over. i was using crutches for a few days, but am trying to start walking again. nothing was broken since the board snapped under my foot relieving some of the pressure that would've been there from the cars weight. the guy that hit me is going to court and maybe get a license suspension for a year and he has a bunch of charges to pay, and for this i'm not going to sue him cause i feel just too bad. a representative from his insurance company is coming over and they're going to give some offers on money that i'll be able to get for compensation.
