How useful would this be? Like the other threads on the getting on NS on the ipod touch the full NS site has way to much going on for the iphone/ipodscreen and posting is hard. The app could be designed like the facebook one where you can post/ message exchange/ some kind on video browser so you could watch vids from NS as the safari browser doesnt support flash and of course have NS radio streaming YEAH!
 
I was actually thinking about the possibility of doing an iPhone photo uploader for newschoolers. Its pretty far down on my list of stuff to do so I doubt it'll ever get done.
 
is it really that hard on the iphone? it is fine on my blackberry. looks the same and posting is easy. and i thought safari is a much better web browser than opera mini....
 
On wifi it is fine but on edge it is slow as hell. I think because every page is so content-heavy it is really unusable on anything but wifi, so the app would be useful when you are not in a wifi zone..
 
If I had some programming skills i would try to make it happen, you can download the codes needed from apple and build the application. Somebody on this site could make this happen.
 
ok well.. nvm. Last years was too much for me. From the looks on the front page I should be able to cope..
 
in the update theres a mobile version which should be awesome, but i would still like to see an ipod app, would be great
 
Unfortunately, more than that is required and the iPhone App development cycle is still flaky.

You must have a mac to do the development. The iPhone emulator runs only on OS X as does the cross compiler. After the development cycle is complete, you've got limited beta testing capabilities, and then it goes to apple for submission, at which point you don't know how long til your app is approved. Similar thing for application updates.

I'd be happy to write an NS iphone/ipod touch app, but I'd need an NS admin to hit me up to talk about it.
 
Ya NS is definitely kind of painfull to use for more then a couple minutes on my ipod but its still fucking crazy that I can use my ipod to surf the web!
 
I don't know about a whole app for it... but a "cell phone friendly" version like many other sites have would be nice.
 
I have basically no issues using NS on my blackberry with opera mini. Surprised so many Iphone people are having issues. It runs basically the same - I even have no issue banning, deleting threads, reading and responding to PM's, etc. And it runs the same speed as any other site.
 
Basically - whenever I sign on NS on my phone, I never sign out. So basically as long as the web browser is open (which is always) I am signed in.
 
Just to add more flame to the fire, my iphone is pretty slow on 3g/edge but bearable. The things that i don't like are that NS signs me out everytime i close my browser and i can only post when fancy gui is set to off, which is impractical if you ever post with a regular computer, which includes everyone i think.
 
A ns web app shouldnt be too hard, just make another version of the front end thats in iphone format

It will probaby just be news, forums and pictures
 
same here, it runs pretty quick on my BB and i can post perfectly fine. a mobile version would be sick though, it'd be like lightning then!
 
considering of the wee bit I know about code, thats the biggest overstatement I've heard today.
 
first of all i think you mean understatement

and it wouldnt be that hard, its like making a new layout, except scalled down alot and most stuff cut out. Most of the php and the databases will stay the same
