A new forum category that is in dire need.

Along with the Ski Gabber, Non Ski Gabber, Site Discussion, etc, we need a new one which all new members should be directly routed to:

"What Skis Should I Buy?"

So many posts are being put up about this, most of which are people with the exact same skiing needs.

I think the ski equipment forum covers that pretty nicely.

But I agree in the sense that alot of the exact same posts always frequent the different boards.

 
Under our current advertising program, any member who posts a "what skis should I buy?" thread is re-routed to the DEFI SKIS website when they try to log in.

Honestly though, so much information is produced so quickly in the forums that I think more forum categories are definitely in need. Got any ideas?

Ugh! I don't think we need any new forums. Websites which have a whole bunch of categories are much more confusing and harder to follow. it's much easier to miss stuff when it could be in 1 of 8 places rather than 1 of 6 or whatever. Somebody would have to really come up with a killer subject for a new forum to get my support. It's just un-neccessary, everything important is covered.

I think a current events catagory would be good, NSG gets swamped so fast with new posts, half are about random stuff, the other half are about current events.

no one read it. thats what the news is for. only posts would occur during major events. i agree with the above somewhere. unless its a killer idea i dont agree

One cool idea I've seen thrown out is a "rolling forum" where the topic changes every week. One week it could be about a competition going on, another week it could be photoshop Henrik Windstedt's pants onto a squirrel, the next week it could be something else people won't shut up about.

It could help contain the blast of new posts that happen whenever something major occurs.

 
^We could just use the new sticky topic function to accomplish this. Choose one topic to sticky each week.

Hmm. New forum ideas?

How about:

Bitch about skiing

Bitch about girls

Bitch about politics

Bitch about nothing.

I think that covers just about everything

 
If you had a sticky on each topic though that topic would get huge and no one would read everything which would get realyl frustrating. Also there is no way everyone would just post in the sticky there would be threads about whatever the topic is popping up in differnet places.

A rolling forum would be a pretty cool idea.

 
^I already made a thread about that couple weeks back. When NoPoles is not busy he prob will add it.

I agree swirly. It's not something that I really support. But it would accomplish pretty much the exact same thing quaz was talking about.. instead of having to create a whole seperate forum for it.

 
Too many stickies gets annoying

Too many categories also gets annoying.

How it is will work fine.

I was just making a point that about 3 times a day a new member posts about what skis to get or where to get them online.
