A New Breed of Ski/Snowboard Competitions

Why do we have to separate slopestyle and big mountain? I think it would be pretty freakin cool to have the competition runs start out on a steep, exposed slope like snowbirds baldy, or the palisades at squaw, then ski that en route to backcountry style booters, into a groomed manicured park run...Obviously we would see certain skiers shine, like dane tudor and others who are super well rounded...I dont really know how well this would work but in theory it sounds like it could be pretty fun to do and to watch.

To be fair, Cold Rush is spread over three different venues over three days.

I think what buddy is purposing is one run, with everything in it. So, not Cold Rush - Supernatural.

crazy pillows to big booter to a pow landing into log jibs/rails.

i like the idea, defiantly not cold rush, cold rush is different, its more of a hybrid of a and freeride run. while i think this guy is suggesting something like a sort of triathlon of freeskiing, where you start at the top of a pillow line (are judged) then you go into som slopestyle e backcountry booters (judged again) then you go into a park (judged once more) and then all three scores are put together. no breaks in between features either, also unlike cold rush.

have a judge like seth morrison do the big mountain section, tanner hall or petit or similar in the transition from big mountain to park area and a pure park guy like wallisch or someone

I reckon something like the red Bull Rampage would be sick, let athletes build their own features on an already gnarly face, and then judge then coming down

you would need some kind of magical ski that can handle steep big mountain lines, deep pow, bc booters, park jumps and rails.

It's a cool idea and some riders would really excel but I like specific events because if a rider doesn't enjoy a certain type of riding they don't have to do it.

Interesting idea with two main problems:

1. Accessibility- hard to bring a crowd up the mountain + have wireless media coverage (away from electricity).

2. Judging- as said before it really is a freestyle endeavor. Hard to measure style. A 360 in the backcountry is not necessarily better than a 1, whereas that's usually the case in freestyle comps (the more the better).

yes thank you to something of this extent..and to whoever is bitching about where you change your skis...you obviously dont belong in the competition...many of todays skis are just fine for shredding pow and park and any good well rounded skier can make the ski preform...i obviously know about cold rush and am not proposing anything close to it

sounds amazing, any luck red bull would pull out the stops for someone like tanner whos an og and a really well rounded skier
