i realize that, but we have major sports here such as the nfl, college football championship, and the nba to take up our time..you saw what happened to non-junior hockey (the NHL)

yea, the whole situation with the NHL sucks ass. My family has (had) season tickets to the Avalanche and I'm so disappointed in not getting to go to games this year.

I think the NBA is boring as shit to watch, with the exception of a few players like Iverson, Carmello, etc.

 
How can you suggest that US college football is more of a 'major' sport than world junior hockey. Domestic stage versus international stage.

The Absence of the NHL has little to do with Canadian enthusiasm for the World Junior Hockey tournament. We get excited about the tournament every year and Canadian games receive more media attention than any NHL game.

I wish the US was more like Canada in regard to following hockey. I grew up playing here in CO and although its grown immensely since the Avs came here in 1996, it's still not the same as Canada. I remember going to tournaments in Canada in my high school years and entire towns would come out to watch their home team play us...it was fucking awesome!

 
Yeah, it's always a pretty big deal up here... but this year it's HUGE. I'm getting tickets for next year's medal round, that's for damn sure. It really is great hockey, because the kids actually TRY.

My brother is on his way to Vancouver right now and then driving to Cologna(sp) for a tournament.

Junior and College hockey is great. It sucks about the NHL and the USA Juniors though. I'd rather see Canada beat the Russians too.

at first, i thought that it was really shitty whats happened to the NHL, but right now, i dont really care, i think its sick to be able to watch leagues like the IHL, AHL, OHL, QMJHL, and all the big junior tournaments on TV.

although i do miss watching the Habs play.

i missed the game lastnight, i was so pissed, i hear the ruskies really got their asses handed to them

I don't actually see all that much CHL televised.. and when it is, they're rarely great games. Too much fighting, and the skill is spread out over so damn many teams, that the entertainment value isn't all that great. AHL is ok... I hope they IIHF lets NHL level players play in the World Champs later this year.
