A love letter to this sport and the community that sports it (in tall T's)

This weekend I was at the Midwest Ski Film Festival. I had talked to BP about it beforehand, and I was getting pretty stoked because as it would turn out, the afterparty with Walker, Wallisch, Hornbeck, and Hathaway was across the street from this house I regularly visit at UWM. So we bought an HO and a 1.75 liters of Jag, cause we were down to party. Unfortunatley the half of the bottle of jagger ended up on the floor the night before, but I could care less cause I would possiblly be partying with kids I have been watching tear it up in my favorite ski movies. So the festival came, and I didn't realize until just before the showing of every day is saturday that it was walker and hathaway dropping sick beats on stage. The festival was great, and I think that everybody in the midwest owes BP some serious karma for making us look good. As I said, the festival was amazing, however it was the after party that made me come to the realization that we are one of the greatest communities around. I stopped at my buddies house and picked up my case of beer, and went over to party. For a second I felt like I was looking at some celebrities when I was dancing to walker and hathaways beats, watching wallisch play pong, and seeing hornbeck as sloppy drunk as anybody. This feeling of being starstruck was gone though as soon as I realized how chill all of the guys were. I told wallisch that this is why I love skiing, because we are a tight enough community that I would be able to party with some of the biggest names in the industry, to which he responded "Fuck yeah, you don't see Shawn White getting blackout drunk down here do you?" After that the night got pretty blurry, but I do remember a trip to a george webb at 5 am, Smoking with some high profile skiiers who I won't mention seeing as how it is still illegal, and seeing Hathbanger put down pancakes like he was fucking kobyashi. It will go down in my personal as one of the craziest parties I will ever go to, and for this weekend I feel like I need to issue out some thank you's
First of all, I would like to thank Harvey and Bishop for creating and upholding this wonderful place we call NS.Second, thank you Level 1, Poor Boyz, 4bi9, and Jibulant for making some dope movies this year.I can't even begin to talk about this weekend without thanking BP, you threw a dope as party and festival mang, mad fucking propsWalker, Wallisch, Hornbeck, and Hathaway, you guys know why you are the shit, I am sure I drunkenly told you each a few times. But most importantly, I wanna thank the Newschoolers. You guys are the reason that I always have some form of procrastination at my disposal, the reason that things like the Superunknown have given us pros like Wallisch, the reason I even ever found out that BP was also from milwaukee and was throwing a sick festival, and you guys are the reason that freeskiing is the sickest community on the snow. Thanks to everbody, and I am looking forward to MWSFF next year

My new favorite skier quote.

"Fuck yeah, you don't see Shawn White getting blackout drunk down here do you?"

fuck yeah dude, that night got me soooo stoked for skiing not only for the year, but the rest of my life. +++k to you my friend. sick shit.

I used to snowboard and for me, the communal vibe and shared love of the sport was half that of skiing. i fucking love skiing. im doing this shit for the rest of my life. awesome story. karma.

I kinda thought Wallisch was stuck up about his skiing because of how far he has got before MWSFF. When I was getting my shirt signed by him and Hornbeck I was talking to Hornbeck about the six kink, which happens to be at my old middle school. I thought it was sweet that Tom had a look on his face with a smile seeing how stoked people are to be so far away and connected in the same sport.I then proceeded to tell Hornbeck how I remember seeing him and Tyler Barnes before they got where they are now at my home hill when in was in grade school. Those guys chill attitude keeps this sport rolling. I love skiing.

dude this just made me so happy. i really do love this community and honestly, theres no other sport that i know of where you can get smashed with pros you see in movies. stuff like this just gets me so stoked on skiing

By the way, excuse the double post, but ^^^^^^^^^ these guys made a sick fucking movie, everybody click the link in his sig.

Here is the man of the hour I was talking about. +k mang, ya'll should follow my lead. See you next year

Man that is what it's all about, and the best damn vibe you can come away with. Plus getting fired up for the season ahead!

Hahaha I am sure they would have, I was feeling the same way. That is why I wrote the letter 4 days after the event. And to ^^ asian allen, one of my personal favorite parts of the night was when the guy with the microphone on stage called out some kids for swearing, saying "oh you think you are cool for swearing?" and then wallisch gets the Mic and drops the fuck word more than a few times. I yelled "hey wallisch, so you think you are cool for swearing? you can just leave man". Lots of good laughs that night.
And I think I saw that somebody in this thread complained about the ghetto rigged duct tape projector. I loved it, gotta keep some shit hood.

Every mountain has senior citizens who just tear it the fuck up. Case and point: Glen Plake's Geriatric ass.

wow, I take that back, Just looked up glen plake, for some reason I always thought that fuck was way older than 40. and to the dude above me calling this fail, welcome to newschoolers, I hope you adopt my views and love of this site in time.

yea, the pros in our sport are alot like us, as far as i know, there aren't any raging asshole pros that i can think of
