I have been listening the album "A Long Hot Summer" by Masta Ace lately and I feel confident saying that it is EASILY one of the BEST hip-hop albums of all time. Ace is one of the best kept secrets in rap. If you havent listened to any of his stuff yet...check it out!!
 
I just Dl'ed it and you're right it is pretty sweet. More of a mellow feel, but still really good flow, a diversity of beats, and obviously Ace has mad skills lyrically. Good call on making this thread cus it is a sweet album.
 
I heard a couple songs featuring him and he's always sick in them. I've been wanting to check out his albums but I never get around to it, lol. +k for the thread and reminding me.

i'm gonna listen to it on the way into work tomorrow when I have more time, I'll let you know.
 
i listened to the first 16 or so songs on my way in, very good from what I heard. Lots of good tracks and I love aces style
 
it's very good, dope mellow stuff, but one of the best hip hop album of all time?? I don't think so, there are so many better albums i.e. Illmatic, Ready To Die, Reasonable Doubt, Wrong Section by Media & Arts, etc.
 
if Ace were a well-known mainstream rapper like Nas, Biggie, or Jay this album would be considered right there with the ones you mentioned. the only reason Ace never became popular is because at a time when the thing to do was rap about "the hood, drugs, bitches, and money", he spit about more intelligent topics. Personally I believe his lyrical skill is better than both Nas's and right there with Biggie and Jay
 
I don't agree with you, he's good, but I can name you rappers who are better ... but music taste is a question of personal preference, heck some people think those crap talkers from the south are the best around
