A kid showed a gore clip during his presentation at my school today

So today in American lit class we were presenting projects that where supposed to demonstrate our knowledge of satire. Some kids made political cartoons, wrote satirical essays, someone even did a parody of cops. However one of the kids decided it would be a good idea to create a "movie showing a saterization of clinical depression." He made a movie maker video of what he called the 5 elements of depression: bi-polar, drug abuse, staying inside, sadness, and cutting. The video started off alright with a video of a happy baby that started crying for bi-polar, a family guy clip etc. However, for his clip related to cutting he spliced in the clip of the guy slicing his back open with a machete. I am not sure how to feel about this. Our teacher started crying, a few girls ran outside, some of the boys started laughing. I still can't believe he wasn't suspended on the spot for it,but what does NSG think? Honestly I'm a bit disturbed by it (not the first gore I've seen, but the setting and the fact I wasn't expecting it made it much worse) but I'm curious if I'm overreacting. Is OP a bundle of sticks? should i be banned? Should I fight the kid?

Well hopefully your school will do something about it because that is not appropriate for the classroom.

My teacher is a 40 year old mother of 2. She used to be an actress and she has always been pretty emotional. She was not balling but she was definitely letting a few tears go and apparently someone saw her flipping out in our consular's office. She has not really interneted and probably had not seen gore before. I'm sorry I don't have pics, I'll attempt to get a copy of the video but I'm pretty sure the school has deleted all existing copy's of it.

We are on break next week, so I guess I will know then. Right now it sounds like a suspension but if the teachers get pissed enough it could be an expulsion.

I'm aware this shit happens, I'm aware of the fucking weird shit one can find on the web. The actual gore shit I had seen before, but when it's A: in a classroom where your not expecting it and B: being presented by one of the sweetest kids I know, that's fucked up. The fact that someone this innocent has access to shit like that and then thinks it's ok to put in a school project shows how fucked my generation is. That;s the disturbing part. I'm not disagreeing with you; yes, I need to sac up and put this behind me, but right now it's making me worried for how fucked we all are.

People are saying sack up and realize what goes on in this world, but watching a machete slicing some guy will not expose you to real world horrors, itll only desensitize you. Watch Al jazeera, the News, if you want to see how much the world sucks

What the hell? The kid is getting suspended and maybe expelled for showing that clip? That's barely even gore. There's no way in hell that kid should be expelled for that. Even suspension seems pretty harsh.

the line between bravery and stupidity is a very fine one and the men in the video, the kid who did this project, and most of the posters in this thread are falling on the wrong side of it.

If it was a prank, fucking PROPS to him for the great reaction he got. I woulda laughed my ass off.

But he should've expected the consequences. I would've. (Worth it? probably)

Suspensions are stupid as fuck though. Is he going to learn anything from being suspended? No. He's used as an example, and that's it.

He didn't do it as a prank, he actually thought it would go over pretty well and not get him in trouble. If he had done it as a prank, would have been funny as shit.

Oh. I re-read the OP deeper... The kid kindof sounds like a weirdo considering other people did normal things like cartoons.

But if he had intended it to be a decent presentation, he should 100% not get suspended. They show worse shit in the STD unit of health class. And the clip is not even that bad. 2 guys 1 hammer, yeah that would've been bad. But this is real-world shit.

You're school is retarded, the teachers are pussies, and it's probably full of kids who ask they're parents before going on to disneychannel.com.

Just put it behind you. When I was 12 my friend (who practically lives on reddit) showed me a gif of a guy getting hit by a car and going 10 feet in the air with his body in pieces. He thought it was hilarious but I was somewhat traumatized. But after spending a couple years on good 'ol /b it probably wouldn't freak me out that much

My schools an eclectic mix of people, there are a fair amount of very sheltered kids who actually learned things in health class, all the way to creepy 4chan guys. The issue is my class has been doing a lot of borderline stuff lately and the teachers snapped at this. There going to make an example out of him.

I'm not the type of person to get queasy whilst watching gore videos, but I started to gag when he actually cut it open, so fucking retarded

What pussies... the video isn't bad at all. You should show 3 guys 1 hammer in class

perfect gif!

The clip crossed the line. No doubt about it. That was pretty fucked, mostly how the skin split a half second after he strikes.

I still dont get why people get so fucking prissy about gore, its basically just the human body with slight modifications. It's kinda illogical if you think about it, because everyone looks like that inside...

i dont mind peopleses insides, but the process of cutting into those insides really makes me wince and cringe.

Maybe give the kid some counseling, but suspending him and making him sit at home to watch more fucked up shit on the computer is not going to help anyone.

OP what grade are you in

9th +. Don't suspend him. Should be counseled Etc

8th or below. Should be suspended Should be counseled

If the kid is high school or above he should not be punished

If he is in middle school he should be suspended

He should be counseled either way though

That doesn't mean you have to be 100% socially retarded and/or an idiot. I don't go walking around showing teens pics of decapitated people to spread awareness of Mexican cartel activity. Because that would also be fucking stupid and unnecessary.

Sack up and don't be the person who doesn't have the balls to admit this is wrong.
