Nikon D60 w/ the 18-55 kit lens, probably getting another lens soon but these were taken the day after i got it so i was just testing it out
 
i really like the green plants one and the tree with christmas lights. the chain one would look so much sicker if the chain was off to the side more though
 
on the third shot, I like the emphasis on the one bulb a lot. that would be a sick shot if it was on too, like the same thing but at night or sunset so there is a small shine right there.
 
the one with the green plants is really nice lots of detail looks like something u would see in a magazine, i like the chain one too but could use a little more clarity on the chain and the chain shouldn't be exactly in the middle, offset things some makes it more interesting and more pleasant to look at. and the Christmas lights one is good quality picture just not as pleasing with a house in the background, or maybe if the whole house was there. i also like the first leaves one a lot, nothing i cant really say anything about that one.the second picture with leaves the detail just didn't come out to well.

anyway, I like your use of natural colors really filling the frame.. if that makes sense.
 
the chain one is over exposed. i like what you tried to do but you have to try work the photo better if you know what i mean? otherwise i like them, try some in black and white with a strong contrast. but yeah good
 
my thoughts too.

This is how a lot of people (including me to an extent) started out taking pictures. Incredibly limited DOF (not necessarily a bad thing) with bright colours.

You'll slowly learn to take other pictures that aren't just leaves and chains. But they're the easiest, and you normally are left with decent results.

You have to start taking some other pictures with a greater range in your DOF. Take people shots, take extremely large DOF plain shots, take action shots. Take these types of shots but frame them diferently and get your frame a bit bigger. Don't limit yourself to one leaf, or one flower.
 
i'm not doing this for karma so don't worry about rating me. i'm sitting reading NS with a friend who is the best photographer i know at the moment. Anyways he likes your stuff, but he is bothered by the chain photo, mainly the fact that it doesn't follow the 2/3s rule. Other than that he says keep up the good work.
 
I was going to say the rule of thirds as well, rather than centering the items (i.e the chain, etc) in the photo, frame it off center a little..and read the article on wikipedia about it
 
Rule of thirds isn't set in stone tho, but for the most part its the way to roll. Depends on what your trying to accomplish.
 
rule of thirds like whoa... The majority have the focal point right in the middle. Sure you don't have to abide by it with EVERY shot you take but most of the time you should. It will almost always lead to better composition in your shots.
 
you have nice contrast with the orange leaves and blue sky. i like that one a lot. the one with the christmas lights is good too because your eye moves within the picture- it has nice depth. although, like others have said, rule of thirds with help. nice shots though.
 
i really liked the christmas lights on the tree, i think that is your best photo, the focus on the lights and tree is a lot clearer than the leaf photos where you tried to focus on the leaf and blur the background, this picture instantly made me think of the weekend after thanksgiving when people jump the gun tp put all the christmas shit up. good work. just work on your manual focus a bit more.
 
very good. i like the leaves and the lights on the tree. as said before, rule of thirds a little more, and zoom out a bit sometimes you may find something interesting in frame
 
overall good close ups. i really like the orange leaf pic. the one of the chain has a good idea too it but seems a little washed out in the light. maybe you could try again and bracket? and what were you trying to accomplish with the christmas light picture? ok that sounds like i'm being a dick. i'm not trying to hate or anything. it's a good pic. just wanted to hear your thoughts...
 
i was gonna say rule of thirds too. For stuff like the chain and purlple flower try to avoid having your center of focus in the middle of the frame. Its not a good rule of thumb for family pictures but for almost everything else its an easy wasy to make your pic artsy.
 
some really nice macro shots, what camera do you use?

As far as constructive criticism, I honestly can't think of anything sorry.

Have you ever concidered going mad macro, like enough to see the small veins in a leaf ultra clearly?

 
^Hes using a D60. And those are really nice, like everyone said rule of thirds and the chain is a hint out of focus, so just watch out for the really fine details. Nice colors in all though, really like the way you set the leaves on up too
