So my dad took a freediving class in the Camen Islands about 5 weeks ago from the same 3 people that were on the show that you may have see. 1: Kurk, the guy that was standing next to David talking to him during the breathe holding. 2+3: the girl and guy talking to the black guy on who was "holsting" the show, dove into the bubble at the end of the breathe holding
1. When my dad took the class, Kurk told him that he highly doubted that David would beat the record, or come close. (Not quite was he said on camera).
2. In one scene during the Blane biography, he was standing underwater with lead boots on with rocks on either side of him about 40 feet under water. Kurk was waiting behind the rocks with oxygen incase David ran out of breathe.
3. The world record (8:58) was set by a german guy who was caught doping 2 years later (kinda like the steroids for holding your breathe, which means that he was probably doping when he set the record, but wasn't tested so is asumed to have held the record) while the blonde guy with chaggy hair who helped David out of the bubble (Martin) held his breathe about 8:10 a few years earlier leagally, the german guy tried holding his breathe after that and he could only hold it for 6 minutes (when he wasn't doping)
If David didn't do the chains thing or 7 days under water before then he almost possitively could have held his breathe longer than Martin did, (legally setting the record)
None the less, total respect to David Blane for doing what he did.
