Wow, to generalize an entire country(any country) based on some statistics in a journal. Yup, the US has a bit of a weight problem. All the kids are sitting inside playing video games when they should be hitting the slopes. But it is a far stretch to say we are all stupid fat Americans. As far as the ladies go, good looking women exist in every country. I think I have been most impressed with the females in Italy and the Czech Republic. However, I am headed up to Chicago this wknd, it has yet to let me down.

First off i'd like to say why are you bitching to a bunch of skiers about their country. If you really wanna make a difference join a movement, do something good for the world. if you arent helping quit your bitching. Second of all, yea we're overweight but a common fitness exam is not that hard, i know a lot of overweight kids who play football who could damn well pass a fitness examen, its not about being overweight, its what you do with yourself.

I don't agree with our government and not signing a lot of documents that the rest of the world did sign, but you can't complain about the obesity issues in america and link it to the government

Since I was old enough to comprehend the happenings in our government, I've been a politically pissed person. I hate that any country could have more obese people than healthy people. I hate that most governments have a certain level of corruption and don't function as they were originally meant to. Of course, living in America, most of my dissatisfaction is with the US... not saying that it's worse than Australia or anywhere else, but I really hope I get to move to Germany this year. I hope I hope I hope.

Just to point something out. The government has NOTHING to do with how much food a person consumes. It's up to the individual. I am glad I am a resident of the least obese state in the country (Colorado). It is NOT the governments job to control how much food people eat. Fat people have very little will power. It's not my problem. It should be only the individuals problem if they are over weight. I don't know why people bring up the government when the topic of obese people comes up. It seems like many people like to run with the idea of not taking any responsibility and blaming someone else. It like that asinine bit a few years ago when there was talk of someone filing a lawsuit against McDonalds for making them fat. Some people are fat, who gives a real shit. Look at a plus side. The majority will die early and might help to decrease the surplus population.

First off, I don't know who said 'College,' but it was pretty much the most relevant post on this board.

I don't care if you are arguing for or against the United States in this matter, you should at least have a college education, without it, you look like an idiot.

Anyway...

1. The US didn't sign the Kyoto Treaty because the government knew that all the developing world, primarily China, is so poorly regulated that it wouldn't keep accurate pollution statistics. In order to avoid the high cost of making our factories meet the Kyoto Protocol and then have the Chinese undercut our prices, we just opted out of the treaty. That is our right as a sovereign nation.

2. Aussie has a Napoleonic Complex and clearly has a poor grasp of the English language. Try forming a cogent sentance then get back to us about our poor educational system. Also, what's with the Mormon bashing?

3. ElGato already clearly answered the physical fitness issue, though aussiepimp seems to be ignoring the facts. That's fine, we're all prone to denial at some point.

4. Corporatisation is not a word, Corporatization is.

5. Over the years the US has spent trillions of dollars protecting the world. WWI, WWII, the Balkans, the first Gulf War. Why is everyone beating up on us, when the French were fighting for colonies in Southeast Asia for years, clearly for their own gain?

6. What's the point of freedom without security? Basic international political theory contends that the first duty of a state-and the primary reason for their inception-is to ensure the security of its citizens from violence.

7. Yes, Abe Lincoln was an excellent president. People forget that he stretched the Constitution at least as much as Bush is doing now. Don't believe me, check your history books...and I don't mean the ones you had in 8th grade.

8. The idea that a president cannot effectively manage the country from Crawford, TX is absolutely rediculous. Sure it's not great for PR, but Harry Truman spent about as much time in Key West during his presidency and no one seemed to mind. Quit focusing on trite shit like this.

All of the poor obese people who need triple bypass surgeries and what not, who cannot afford medical care will have a lot of their treatment paid with YOUR (most likely your parent's) tax dollars. This is why you should care if over half the population is obese.

I'm not saying aussie-pimp was right for bashing the US, but yes there is a problem that affects everyone, even if you aren't the one that's obese.

actually as far as things like education, health care, physical awarnss, all forign policy, the extent of comercialism, and really the nonexistant equality you show for all people in your country(i'm talking about how bush took off a lot of hispanic and african-american people off the voting list and how cristianity baisically runs your country) most other countries are a lot better . canada is barly better we hav a lot of problems but as far as first world countries go there are a lot in thoes policies that stand far far above the US
