It took a while, but it finally happened – an environmentally friendly

car is being released that does not in any way resemble a small fridge

and is actually quite cool. Yes, this stunning looker is going to turn

some heads.

Austin-based automotive design and manufacturing company Ronn Motor's has built the Scorpion; a hydrogen fuel injected hybrid.

The vehicle utilizes new 'hydrogen on demand' technology, which, simply

put, generates water from the inbuilt tank, turns it into hydrogen and

then injects this into the car's system.

Not only does this approach allow fuel mileage to increase by

between 20 to 40%, it also reduces carbon emissions to nearly zero.

Couple this with its exclusive styling, and the Scorpion is sure to be

a strong contender in the exotic performance car segment.

The Scorpion is out early 2009 and can be yours for a tidy $150,000. Go on, do it for the planet. - Brendan McKnight

Thoughts NS?

i've never really ever been a fan of 2 seat convertibles. why dont they make like a minivan or something? i'm sure they would be able to get some attention then. but for real making the car look like this is kinda a bitch move. here is the car to solve all the worlds problems. except you cant own it unless you wanna drop $150,00.

thats what we need more of! it would really help out the enviroment. but if only more companies could produce cars like this that are a lot cheaper lol

yeh the thing is mad quick, can hit 175 or something like that if I recall correctly. Might be off base that might be a different car.

But yeh that thing is legit.

this car dosent look good but i can go 200 mph, and uses a standard production v 12 thats been converted to run on hydrogen, so why the fuck is every one messing around with fuel cells, this is a exsting technoligy, that can work with hydrigen and produce zero emisions.

To the person who said it doesn't look safe... first of all, its a digitally mastered concept. Tho it will be in production. Additionally, I'm sure it will be like any other sports car for safety specs. There will also probably only be a very small amount of hydrogen at any given time since it uses it up as it converts it. If you do get in a crash I don't think it would be too big of an issue.

As for the price, it's not supposed to be the new 'energy saver' car for everyone. It's a sportscar, plain and simple. The difference is that it is economically friendly more so than any others. It's just another toy for the rich, it's not meant to replace hybrids etc.

there is a lot of cars that are good for the environment and look really sick.....but they dont sell. everyone would just rather buy a nice car thats bad for the environment

tesla roadster does 0-60 in less than 4. the new electric cars can usually accelerate faster than gas engines because they don't need to get warmed up first, you just step on the gas pedal and BANG, you're flying.

1000 fuel stops is about 3 stops per day. that would be rediculous. although if you kept the car for a few years it would work. how does she handle in the snow.

hybrid cars dont do shit for the environment. only thing they do is save you money. they leave a bigger carbon footprint then a normal car does so in the long run. no good

HYDROGEN FUEL CELLS FOR CARS IS RETARDED

its just the way the fuel companies want to sell you something (after gasoline) so there isnt a demand for electric cars that would put exxon and other out of business

its simple chemistry... currently, the only way to make hydrogen gas is through electrolysis of water (basically running a current through water)... and since no process is 100% efficient, it would make much more sense just to make a better electric car

My aunt works for Tesla and I got to ride one...holy shit they are unbelievable and accelerate faster than any other gas-powered car I've ridden in with the exception of this Lotus I once rode in.

Too bad we've fucked ourselves. We can't keep burning oil cause it'll destroy the planet but we can't stop burning oil cause it'll cripple the economy

do you have any idea what your talking about??... first off, neither of these cars are hybrid... one is electric and the other is hydrogen... secondly... what sources do you have that show you that either of these cars (or any "hybrid" as you put it) leave a larger carbon footprint than a normal gas car?? thats just plain ignorant.
