A Bay's new lift: Chairway to Heaven

Arapahoe Basin had a competition for people to send in what they think the name for their new lift should be.

Genius Robert Maher thought of Chairway to Heaven, but A Basin chose Black Mountain Express.

chairway to heaven? exhibition lift goes nowhere heavenly. it gets you to the midmountain lodge. there are a couple groomers down from there. pali is more of a chairway to heaven and the most likely candidate for that name, thought it should always be a double and always be pali.

if that is true they better not call it chairway to heaven, i think its a cool name but should be reserved for one serving good terrain.

it doesn't serve any good terrain anyways though. Plus it will take people away from the pali lift. I think its good. You still have to ride a slow lift to do any real skiing.

The only thing a high speed quad will be good for at A bay is early & late season... Hopefully we wont have to stand for 20 minutes to ride the ribbon.

Save for Chairway to Heaven. I know ski 'culture' thrives on nostalgia and cliche, but seriously? Is that really the best people can do? I hate to be a dick, but it kind of hurts me that people not only think the name is clever, but are starting an obscure page full of digital thumbs-ups to promote it.

Haha. I wouldn't give a shit. My mountain always had numbers for lifts, then they decided to give them names, but I have never heard anyone call a lift by its name there and I sure as hell never did. At Mammoth you never hear a local call a lift the Broadway Express or Cloud Nine Express, it's always chair one or chair nine. Numbers are the tits!

Not to mention the whole lift is gay. It just means more gapers next year, less parking, and the ribbon of death is going to be extremely crowded. Sure we won't wait half an hour in the early season, but the ribbon is going to be ridiculously packed.

It just doesn't seem like the same old chill A-bay
