A-bay

Any word on snowmaking or anything? I have been hearing awful rumors that they won't open until mid november because of their new lift, as in after breck and key... wack.

Can anyone tell me otherwise? Anyone on the inside preferrably.

Heard the new lift was finished last weekend. They were posting on twitter as they were putting the last chair on... Loveland also posted snowmaking had started but I think they stopped. Its too warm.

According to their website, they haven't started snowmaking yet, but the lift is built... If they gonna open on Oct. 15 then thats alot of snow to make in a short time!

word on the street is they started blowing and have been blowing for about a week now... just haven't announced it. I haven't been up that way to confirm anything and the webcams don't show snow. But thought this hearsay might bring an uplifing note to the thread.

Naw, its raining in summit. a low of 33 tonight. But a cold front is moving in! check the forecast and break out the jackets kids! its coming!

Fuckkk youuuu sierra nevadas. Hopefully it rolls out here. Looks like a good storm's brewin off the PNW though.

^most of that moisture is warm, and not snow. we're in an usual la nina dry pattern right now, so be thankful about the weather in the sense that it's setting us up for (hopefully) amazing conditions. This coming friday night looks to be a good shot at a tiny amount of snow down to 10k feet. After that it looks to be warm and dry again with the exception of a thunderstorm here or there. Not til the 17/18th of this month will be see the huge high pressure ridge in out west and the STRONG la nina low scale pressure starting to settle in. Just wait, come November it could be an entirely different scenario.

Sick, no worries on my part, just anticipation... or is it withdrawl? I can't really tell...

this high pressure needs to gtfo though.

itll be low enough at night. doubtful for this weekend however. a little bit of snow in the forecast, but theyre callin for almost every day snow next week. i doubt theyll take the chance this weekend, and just tough it out 1 more.

Abay won't open this weekend simply because Loveland isn't opening this weekend. It's too big a gamble. Not much snow is projected for next week save tuesday (I think) but with the temps being cold at night opening day could be weekend after this coming weekend but don't get your hopes on that either. Either way, we'll be skiing before the end of the month making fun of the rest of the country!

for night snow, yes. next week though snow levels are expected to drop even as low as 6000 feet. so in the high country it's gonna get coooold.

are you referring to the low pressure building off the PNW or are you talking about the weak storm projected for tonight/tomorrow?

the one building. it'll swoop in from the gulf of alaska as i said above once the high pressure ridge breaks down later this weekend.

and that's dope news. i've been following Joel's Colorado powder forcast. He seems to make pretty good predictions. he says we shouldn't take his word for it but it's looking to be a good winter.

Yeah I started looking at his forecasts last season. He's legit. Along with Chris Manly and snowforecast.com. Never miss a pow day.

Joel's forecast are almost always close to spot on, there was only one bad forecast from him last year.
