A-Basin's park right now

i was there on saturday and it was pretty good

top section:

Left = small jump

Right= down rail - battleship rail - flat box or box line on the right

then you can either go over to the 2 jump line, or hit a cbox or f-d, up box, down rail, and a box

the double line is pretty fun, but not too big

as of wednesday it was, RIGHT LINE: Smallish Down rail, Trap Rail or Rainbow, Up Box or Flat Down Box or C-Box, and up-down box to finish. Left Line was 3 jumps i think, last one being a step down around 25 feet (only jump i hit). and at the base was the down rail, flat-down-flat box, and up box, which were setup for the rail jam, so it might have changed back into the normal park by now.

Went there yesterday, pretty icy, and not very good conditions, but a ton of runs still open, and bunch of snow. I'm going to let the snow warm, and soften up a little bit more before I go again.

unless you're grillin, then you'll need to get there earlier to get a good spot. but yeah, skiing before 11 is just and all around bad idea.

so with the current park set up at abasin and loveland, which would you chooose to ride for a day?

their park right now is pretty poor. it was better last year this time of year. i went sunday and it didn't start to soften up until after 12. they have some good rails up but they're poorly located. the jump is ok however.

It's dumping pretty hard, we'll be shredding tomorrow all day. probably be grilling at the beach, stop by for a beer (red jeep and/or black jetta)

if there park looks anything like it did earlier and they year, you'd be smart to skip that mountain ALL together, everything looked like a guarunteed death. loveland that is. even preseason, boxes and rails look like your life could maybe be on the line. I love screws sticking out of boxes, and 30 foot tables w/ a wedge built a foot off the ground and a 10 degree grade.

why can't A-Basin just build like a standard, poppy ParkLane size 30 foot table so we can have fun jumping in the spring time. They work with Breck and Keystone selling the pass why can't they invite someone over who can build a jump. Someone should make a phone call. Seriously. It wouldn't be that hard to make a real jump. Come on A-Bay, step it up.

a basin shouldnt waste their money and have a real park during the season. they should have a jib park before christmas and a real park, built by breck or keystone builders at the end of the season.

Part of the problem is that while they sell some of their passes through Vail Resorts, im pretty sure they have seperate owners/management. This is why Vail Resorts doesn't sell the ABasin only pass, and you can't get it unless you buy it at ABasin. Either way, if there was enough demand they should step up and ask someone from Breck/Keystone to aid their park.

jim and jarron are there quite often (two skiers on the key park crew), im sure they'd take the job if it was only for after key.

vail resorts owns a-bay, im almost 99% sure of this, the reason they don't sell an a-bay only pass through their site or anything is because it isn't actually a resort...there's no place to stay, etc. so instead they push keystone and breck real hard because theyre close by and have tons of lodging. honestly, a-bay is mostly for CO people and bargain hunters anyway, it's not a huge money maker for vail resorts.

im sure they wouldnt. this is the best time of the year for those guys, the photoshoots are over and they are just having fun. i dont think they would want to be working on park still after 5 straight months of raking/digging. but maybe they are more hardcore then i am

for sure, i was thinking more of just for setting it up, i agree that they probably dont want to be carrying rakes around till june.

No, Vail does not own A Basin, they tried to buy like 10 years ago but they couldn't because they thought it would create a monopoly on colorado skiing. but now that Steamboat is in with Copper/WP, maybe they will be able to buy it.

^ nope they dont...A-Basin is completly independent...if Vail resorts owned them I bet there park would be better and there would be alot more rules

I was up there today and the main park (the one with the C box and flat down box) was still there but the mini (the one with the dance floor and stuff) was gone.

Thank you for your insight, I actually work for Vail and sell passesm, so therefore I don't know shit. Anyways no big deal, but Vail Resorts doesn't own ABasin. I really wish they could work out a deal to have someone from Breck or Keystone help their park.
