A-Basin Jumps

I'm thinking of making a trip out for a few days late this month/early may. do they usually still have any decent jumps up at that time?

they usually have two or three until the very last day, this year they hired a new cat driver and he built two jump lines, I havent hit them yet but I would say they'll have 5 or 6 jumps in may this year, they look ok.

someone told me june 6th. i dono how accurate this is though. That's pretty late though considering how shitty of a snow year this was

actually i think you're right, i looked at the calendar on their website and there was nothing scheduled after May 30th.

well i took a bus all the way from breck to keystone today to learn the summit stage no longer goes to A basin if anyone from breck is heading that way PM me i'll give yea gas $

probably going up there tomorrow... I hope they put some effort into the park this May. But yea 420 at ABAY will hoepfully be a scene.

They were better this year then in years before. A jump line of 3 or 4 i can't remember that were smaller. And a jumpline of two that were decent sized and some pretty nice jibs

an article in the paper today said they still plan to close June 6th, as usual. In the 3 years ive lived in the county, they never closed because of a lack of snow, but because they obviously dont make any money in late may/ early june, or very little. It was a shitty snow year, but unless we get some ridiculous rain and warm temps over the next month, I'd plan on some June slush action coupled with copious amounts of beer and people wearing awesome outfits. Paarty!

If you are going in hope of good jumps, you shall be disappointed. Overall though, Abay is so much fun late season

Wait what lift is that? Is it the lift on the far right side at the base or the mid mountain lift on the left side? I usually take the bottom life on the far right because i like going through the main park and the kiddie park, usually pretty fun.

not much of a loss. Would rather see the effort put into making the main park better. It def needs some work.

Last time i was up they had a line of 3? small jumps. They had one more jump after a urban down rail that was small too. Both i the big park

I was a little disappointed to see a bunch of features closed on friday including all the jumps. I'm hoping they were only closed because it was snowing a bunch and they don't have enough staff to keep it maintained in a snow storm. If that's not the case then I'll be pretty bummed, although lapping the mountain with a 30 rack sitting at the bottom is pretty fun and it's always real nice when you can get a spot on the beach.

NO. I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW IT WAS NO FUN AT ALL.
But seriously, A-Bay had some issues with their park, about half the features including all the jumps were closed.

The line of 3 are glorified moguls, absolutely tiny. There is one 10ish foot jump, but it's super flat and hard to get speed for. Can't do much on the jump, but there are a few nice rails and the East Wall had surprisingly good snow today.

i was there today and the line of 3 is def useless. The park is still pretty fun to hike though. And the one jump on the left might be 25 but it is hard to get speed for.

so my family is movin out to dillon. I'm flyin out there on saturday from school and stayin till the 30th. I've heard they still have some pretty decent snow out there. My question is is it worth it to bring out my new rockered Surface skis that I'm dying to ride on or is it not even worth it and just stick with my park skis that are already out there?

Well... considering that Abay reported 2 inches this morning from a storm that was supposed to bring at least a foot...

Who knows though? It might snow a decent amount between now and then. Go ahead and bring the powder skis. I've been riding on Bibby's, and plan to for the rest of the season.

If you're dying to ride themn, do it. I know a handful of people that ski only fully rockered pow skis everyday, even early and late season when its only hardpack. You'll get a chance to see how they handle in mixed conditions and you can have fun buttering around with the rocker.

thanks for the replies guys. Only problem is I since I've only been to A-bay once before I don't really know any good woods or hiking terrain to get better snow so I'll prob have to stick to in bounds trees and other terrain of that nature.
But like what Gnome said I'll get to see how they perform under mixed conditions and finally get to ride them :-) !!!!!!!! So I'll prob end up bringing them out there. Worst case scenario I just ride my park skis that are already out there.

I just kind of ski everywhere. If it's a good run then I'll probably do it two or three times. Sometimes I find the frontside better than the backside. Find what you like and ski it.

I was bummed today at A Basin when i saw that the biggest jump in the park was closed. Are they just fixing it or is it going to be shut down for the rest of the season?
