A-basin and loveland to open next week!!!

looking at the weather report, it might not be shit snow... it's gonna be cold and snow is even forecasted for boulder.

i meant it is a 'shit-show' as in LOADS of people.

hopefully the snow is decent, but you can't ask for much the first few weeks.

Have you been at an opening day at Love or the Basin?? It's hard to explain without actually seeing it.

Sometimes people f'ing drive in from other states just to get early turns.

I don't see that being decent in 9 days, theres like a dusting on the ground. I guess it's worth it to have the claim to fame "first ones open" It started snowing up here two days ago which is sweet at this point I've waited all summer and another 3 weeks arn't going to kill me. It will give me a chance to catch up on my life (which im falling pretty far behind in already) before the snow hits hard.

this is my first fall/entire winter in colorado. so no, i have not been to either place on opening day. but i am from the east coast and i always go to killington on opening day and it is pretty darm crazy. i'm sure it is crazier here tho.

a-basin pushed theirs back to oct. 21.

opening day is always crazy. imagine one run with crappy snow and 30-40 people packed onto it at one time all at different ability levels.

It is.

Two strategies:

1. Be first, ski for an hour and sell your ticket to someone in the parking lot.

2. Be last, clip a ticket in the parking lot and get the last hour of the day in for free.

Or, pray for a ton of snow and hike the pass. It's always better to hike for powder or build a booter than pay for one sketchy run of man-made ice.
