Dude you gotta temper your expectations or you will experience non-stop heartbreak for a month or so. Trust me. Best not to look until around mid October

Opposite in PA.. just a continuation of summer. Past couple years have been so dry the lawns start drying up. and then it gets cold at the drop of a hat at thanksgiving.

i still havent figured out the balance between being hyped for the season and not getting heartbroken when a warm front moves in

It’s mid-September and I’m already itching for Killington laps wtf

That’s understandable because you never know if/when killi will pull off the legendary September opening

i feel like they could but then theyd close again for a few weeks and it wouldnt be cost effective or whatever.

Yeah if the climate is right they could. If they ever saw a great stretch of cold in September into October I bet they would. The earliest they ever opened was October 1st.

anyone else started to get serious about winter training yet? dont get me wrong, i stay active all spring and summer, but with ski season around 2 months away the focus is on that.

this past weekend my gf and i climbed 1000m of vert (in a dismal 3hrs) and rode 25 km of single tracks. needless to say my legs are on fire today.

upcoming weekend is water skiing and trampoline.

October 1st that shit just blows my mind bruh how’s that fucking possible. What year was it? I feel like trees wouldn’t even be at peak foliage yet lmao.

It happened multiple different years actually, 92, 93, and 97 I believe.

I don’t know how the fuck it happened but it’s crazy for sure.

kinda unrelated but nothing is sicker than when you get a good snow over peak foliage

they made a base for rime and reason in 3.5 days last year. they have 2.5 this week... will they do it?

They better I need this. however if there isn't a setup because what they have is to thin then I probably wouldn't go even if they open.

noooo dawg reason side hits are worth it. but if its too thin for some rails its too thin to open

Most likely true but over 8 hours round trip for side hits and gas on the uptick is kinda tough. Honestly I know when I read that first report I'll be on my way and hyped,

Yeah it’s just usually because they don’t have enough time to put it up or only had enough time to make snow on Rime.

This is what I was thinking might happen. First place to open in US tho? think that'd be pretty epic

Maybe the window we need. Those highs are high though. But it is for the base.

I could maybe see it.

The next few nights are in their prime snowmaking range and they don’t really care about day time temps as long as the weather will allow them to make more snow at nights. Don’t see too promising of a window after the next few nights though so it’s definitely debatable whether they’ll go for it or not.

How many nights do they need for mid chairlift laps? Like 3-4 and then some mid week days to blow to keep snowpack around? Seems like it'd be a wash/tease

are you guys seeing something im not?

what sunday are talking here?

they need 18 or so hours to cover rime/reason from what I remember. It would definitely be a stretch and burning $$$ with an inch of rain monday but Killington likes to burn money so idk. Sort of depends what temps actually are, but I bet they'll be watching. They tried the other week afterall.

Rain and over 50 for a couple days. Seems dumb for not even getting the entire weekend.

They’ve opened off of under 24 hours of snow making before

alex hackel is coming next saturday so they better figure it out

I saw that too and was hella confused..doesn't look like another cold streak for a while. Feel like they could have really pushed heavy this past weekend and made something happen, was scouting the cam like every morning lmao

It’s completely unrealistic they have a very solid windows starting Tuesday night next week and then after that for the foreseeable future. NWS forecasting 39-50deg lows all week with high winds all weekend too.

Weather is not looking good the next 2 weeks, but K doesn't need all that much time to make enough snow for the cup.

Usually when we have really cold Oct/Nov it's a warm winter so maybe it'll be a cold winter since it's so warm now (I'm a man of science, I know).
