yeah the parents are stupid but they probably aren't gun-experts or something. Maybe they didn't know about how powerfull this weapon is, I mean it looks quite small and all that.

So don't just blame the parents, blame the instructor as well. He IS AN expert in this field and should now that an uzi is a litte much to handle for a 9 year old. Other than that it seems like that was the first or one of the first shots she fired. (the instructor: "now try firing a shot")

To put the weapon in full auto after just a few shots is just stupid, also if it was an adult, let alone a child.

I was in the army as it is mandatory here (hated it) and full auto mode is banned for most troops, except special forces and so on. Yeah I know, our army is a joke.
 
I'm not against guns but I am against people who think little kids need to know how to shoot something like an Uzi. They should be starting out on a .22
 
there's a reason why you can only start driving at 16. decision making, awareness, and physical control need to be well within your capability for even basic operation of such equipment.

guns, just like cars, aren't toys like many people want to believe they are.

Well put. As a Canadian, I'm quite baffled by "gun culture" in the States.
