8mm Camera for Dummies

aight guys, so I want to integrate some footage with some 8mm camera in my movie, the camera is easy to get, but what should I look for , in term of tech spec, what about the film, it it hard to master ? who is using one ? lemme know. Thanks

super 8 is a casett, very easy to use...just smack it in the camera like u would do with a regular videocamera. it dont come on roll's like 16mm.

and almost all super8 cameras are very easy to use...most of the time its just the framespeed, zoom and focus which u need to think about.

easy easy

I clicked on that link 20 minutes ago and ended up at google maps by clicking on different things. It was a pretty intresting ride I must say.

so super8 comes in those wacky cartidges....so i was wondering if anyone knows how/if its possible to edit fottage from a super8 film, as well as integrate it into a movie on a comp?

You shoot a super8 cartrige, then send it in to a telecine lab, where they process it and digitally transfer it to MiniDV tape, which you then use to upload onto your comp.

I shoot with a Minolta Autopak s6

well generally when you have film transferred to miniDV tape, it loses resolution, because miniDV is not an HD format. for complete uncompressed full res film, you need to have it digitally transferred to a hard drive, which costs like 5 times as much. somwhere $100+ per roll for 16mm I think, Im not sure because that option is way out of my price range. super8 might be cheaper for the harddrive option.

here is one of mine. has a 12x zoom
