8.29.03 Is almost here, here's the explanation

Some of you know part of the story, but as a representative of the SRMC and part of the crew who spotted this phenomenon, I'm the one to tell you all.

Aug 17 2003, the earth and mars will come closer than they have been for the last 6,000 years and will not be this close again for many more years to come. It will be the first time recorded that anyone will be able to see Mars with the naked eye, this may come as something good, but can cause tragedy.

Due to the fact that Mars is so close to Earth, and even closer to the moon, the tides and weather will be changed and winter will come much earlier. It is estimated that on August 29th, snow will start to fall in the colder regions of the world. By December, there will be record breaking amounts of snow. When the Earth and Mars are at a normal distance again, temperatures and weather activity will return to normal and winter will end around May 2004, thus being almost like another Ice Age.

I believe bristol was asking if NY was north enuf to get snow on august 29th. If I see snow at my farm on august 19th. I will shave the word ski into each side of my beard and take photos to post on NS.com

uhh...you can see mars with the naked eye normally. you can see venus, jupiter, and saturn ant certain times of the year too.

It's bullshit. Not gonna happen. The gravitational effect that Mars will have on Earth from that distance will be roughly the same as if a human were to fly around the world, and that's never changed the weather.
