7D Upgrade, Need Help

So I have a Canon 7D, but I am looking to upgrade my camera. I looked at the 6D and 5D but I am not digging the fact that I can't use over half of my lenses with the full frame. (Why don't I sell my lenses and get new ones? My lenses are beat to shit to be honest. I've had them hit by skis and fall of a broken glidecam) That being said, what should I do? Should I sell what I have and go for the full frame, or get away from the dslr realm in all? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Why do you want to go full frame? From what I've heard (never used a 5d for more than 5 mins) online is that its really just a gimmick, and for video it makes no difference. The new black magic cameras are pretty interesting, might want to consider those ($995 for raw 1080p in that tiny form factor... damn). But you really need to ask yourself, is the 7d actually limiting you? What can't you do on it that a 6d or 5d will let you do?

Let me be more specific, my circuit board fried after a little over three years of use. Therefore the 7D is broken.

while your FF gimmick bit is ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT, you're actually right on what the 6d/5d will do to help for video, so congrats and give yourself a pat on the back. Neither of those will be a big upgrade for video. However, if you're looking to upgrade for photos (which I'm assuming you are not), the 5d mkiii would be huge.

is it possible to ban someone from posting in a one forum? if you could just ban him from the M&A forum, you could prevent so much of his shit and misinformation from being spread.

Help me Obi- 1137, you're my only hope.

You giving shoddy advice in nearly every camera thread and then being corrected is getting old. Take a step back and gain some experience first. Now back to business. Sadly I have no counsel to offer the OP.

The first thing that needs to be addressed is, what is the 7d doing that isn't good enough? what aspect are you wanting to upgrade..

"Why do you want to go full frame? From what I've heard (never used a 5d for more than 5 mins) online is that its really just a gimmick, and for video it makes no difference."

The way you worded it you clearly weren't talking about video in the first sentence. So you either need to learn how to bring across sentences or learn about the cameras, either way you look at it it's not good for you.

Badly worded, sorry. I meant its just a gimmick (for video) and it doesn't make a difference but whatever.

I feel like i still mostly lurk and learn anyway, a lot of people have valuable and useful advice or input... but I'm also not gonna let misinformation be spread

Other than low light abilities, IMO full frame isn't ideal for video. Its nice that at 15mm is super wide but then a 70-200 isn't as long though.. so i dunno I wouldn't buy a FF camera for video. S35 aka 1.5 crop has been perfect IMO.

As for your other advice, did you really just suggest he upgrade from a 7d to a bmpcc? come the fuck on.

For the OP:

Do you need a new camera asap? You could wait and check out the new 7dm2 and 70d whenevr they come out. Maybe just get a t3i in the mean time? they'll work just like your 7d did.

Thanks for some quality advice. I do need a camera to keep my little production company going. I am lucking out because a ton of kids at my school have dslrs and are nice enough to let me borrow. I'm going to look into all of this.

Yeah on M&A you really have to make sure you know what you've said is absolutely 100% correct before posting, or someone who actually does know what the hell they're talking about will karma rape the shit out of you.

Like OP here. poor guy.

no. you shouldn't refrain from posting terrible advice and information because you might get karma raped. you should refrain from posting it because it's fucking stupid and no one should have to hear it.

Touche. More what I should have said. Also people shouldn't refrain from posting, as honest questions are honest questions, and no one knows everything. But they should use their brain and the searchbar before asking.

i feel bad cause no one has really answered him. OP, any of the canon dslr line isn't gonna be an upgrade from your 7d 9 (WAY TO GO QZYXYA, YOU'RE ACTUALLY RIGHT), i don't really have anything to suggest, but thought i'd give you a bump to maybe have someone who knows their video suggest something.

from what i have heard, gh2/gh3 really is that good for video purposes. i dont really know what i think about micro 4/3 cameras but just throwing it out there

i dont know how/why this is there. PROFESSIONAL ADVICE: ignore it. P.S. i am drunk so listen to me. SOURCE: My whiskey bottle
