im looking to get a digital slr with video capabilities. can anytone reccommend one over the other? is the 7d really worth the extra $800? also for the people that have them can you post some sample stills and video.

i haven't shot with either, but from what i hear is the 7d would absolutely blow the d5000 out of the water on photos and videos

yea i have the d5000 and it lacks in video capability, i would def. go w/ the 7d if you can

For video functionality I have the t2i and really love it. I hear that it has comparative video quality to the 7D so maybe give the t2i a look if you've got a budget as well.

Simply put the 7D is wayyyy better for video. but my friend has a 7D and i have a D5000, the D5000 takes much better pictures, the only good thing about the canon pics is the vibrant colors

Why are these two cameras even being compared? D5000 is a low consumer grade camera, while the 7D is a high-end prosumer (correct me if I'm wrong) camera...

what is the obsession with the t2i about. If u want a camera for pictures and u shot video once in a while then idk why u wouldnt get nikon. its a better camera anyways. 7d

So you say stick with Nikon but suggest the 7D? He never said he does video once in a while either. T2i is great from both sides, if not going with the T1i which I have.

You mean the D7000 right? Well, the video isn't as good as the 7D, but it's still pretty good. Check some videos on youtube shot with it. I'm purchasing a D7000 in the near future because 1: I have a fortune invested in Nikon products, and 2: I have a Gopro that makes up for it's inability to shoot 60p. For the record, I think the D7000 is a better still camera than the 7D considering it's cheaper.

He asked between the 2 and i admit the t2i is a good camera. Im just opinionated. What ever u grow up using is what u think is better. Realy the difference between Nikn and Canon are slim.
