A 7 yr. old Scandinavian Boy lost his mother, his father, his sister, and his two brothers in the Tsunami.

His family was in Thailand on vacation. The last time the boy was seen, was when he was holding a sign: 'Trying to find my family'

No sympathy yet Americans?

 
yeah that's sad, but it happened to tons of kids over there. the majority of people that died were children becasue they were strong enough to swim to the top, but its definitely a tragedy. i feel bad for those people over there.

Why is it always something like this that gets the massive pot of NS shit churning. Yes, the $35 mil we are sending over there is pretty skimpy, but i don't think there is a total lack of sympathy. $35 mil will not go very far at all over there. The damage is just outragous. Then agian the disaster just recently happened so more money could so be on the way shortly. With how complex and crazy our government is, sometimes it can be hard to free up a lot of money, especially with the national debt as high as it is.

I honestly cannot comprhend the amount of deaths that occured. No matter who, how, or why sympathy and aid is needed. I mean look at 9/11 3000 ppl die and we make it into the worst event ever. Ok the reason I´m so passionate on this subject is because. I did volunteer work to earn money for the orphans in Sri Lanka. And now this huge problem hits their country. And I just feel blown away. What did these children do to deserve to be born in such a country?

And then I read posts on how people are glad the population has gone down. It just makes me sick to my stomach, that someone could even comprehend something like that. It´s disgusting.

It´s also pretty hard not to know anyone who is missing down there.

Trust me when I say that we will be sending over more money and supplies as they are needed. It is never a good idea to write one giant lump-sum check to third world countries that harbor terrorists and tell them to go to town. As the need arises you can guarantee that Washington will be cutting more checks.

Despite the US being the wealthiest nation in the world we can't just randomly start cutting checks for hundreds of millions. We have to budget, coordinate, and diversify the contributions.

I will say that Bush made a big mistake by waiting 3 days until he said anything. If he really wanted to show he cared he should've been on world news giving sympathy and condolences like no later than a day after it happened.

If the US wants to be a big boy in world politics they need to focus on diplomacy. Waiting 3 days to to make a simple sympathy statement after one of the largest natural disasters in modern history is not a good way to make friends around the world. They also better dig up some more cash before some 3rd world country donates $36 mil and makes us look bad.

A lot of the terrorism that is out there today is generated because of the actions the united states makes. You can't possible kill every terrorist out there, at some point you need to realize you must move your mouth or your wallet and not your armies if you want to be kind and caring.

My friend's dad, sister and step mom was at the pi pi islands when the wave hit. Luckily they were in their hotel room when the wave hit. They managed to get to the highest point on the island and stayed there overnight. The next morning when they came down from the hill EVERY building on the island except the hotal was smashed. They saw all these dead bodies and rotting shit all over the fucking place. I wish tha wave hit the middle east so all the fucking terrorist muslim fuckers would DIE!!

Wow, this is way beyond funny. There are so many ridiculous posts in this thread I'm not even gonna respond to them. I'm just gonna say this. A lot of you people's lack of care for the value of human life is disgusting. The lack of compassion for people who are suffering and who's lives have unimaginably worse than yours is ridiculous. 115,000 people have died. About 40 times as many as in September 11, and some of you guys are acting like its no big deal. I don't know why the value of 3000 American lives is so much more valuable than 115,000 fuckin lives of non-Americans. This is a huge fuckin crisis, and I'm not america bashing at all, but this is a way bigger deal than September 11, hands down. There are lots of people out there who are gonna die unless they get help. Every day thousands more are dying, and these people can be saved with the support of the rest of the world. Some of you people's overall lack of compassion is horrible. Okay, the people on this website's sympathy probably isn't going to solve any problems unless we get involved, but how about showing some caring and feeling for fellow human beings. How about showing that you can feel compassion for other people who are going through shitty times. Why? Because thats part of being human, and there a time in your life when you're in a position to help someone, and if you take an attitude like this, you're gonna be one disgusting little shit of a person.
