the best part is right now its hike only- no noobs at all
everything is soo massive and consequential- scariest and coolest park I have ever seen

went this morning the park is pretty sick. the ledges are made out of a weird wood and some are made out of this concrete style shit as well. pretty sick

i attempted to ride it yesterday but almost every feature, even the easy looking ones are really hard to hit unless you're really good at ollieing on

The whole point of this park is for it all to be urban style so yes you will have to ollie on to things and yes making it to the end of most of these features in an acomplishment in itself, and yes you probably will get fucked up at some point. The small down boxes you see are actually concrete, and the big flat down box and up gap to down box are some sort of surface that slides really well. Many skiers have been filming (including myself) so expect something soon. If you are good at rails (from both sides considering some features only have one lip on a certain side) it is extremely fun, if not don't even bother.

I witnessed some gnarly fucking slams today. But because of its high risk nature, everyone is scoping out the features and nothing bad has happened... yet.

All the fun looking boxes are actually real concrete with the exception of the flat-gap-down and the huge flat down so that was quite the buzzkill.

There was barely any gapers which was spectacular.

It's annoying that it's right under the six pack because if you fall you get chirped by 5 year olds. Even if you're just standing there you still get chirped. For example: I was hit by a water bottle today just standing there.

Dick Barron and his minions were out in full force checking passes and they said that if they don't find passless skiers they'll stop checking so for the love of god ski with a pass. Also, don't cut through a downed fence at the top of the park because ski patrol is cracking down on it.

Chances are that the people who actually hit it realize that it isnt great for their skis. My hill has a concrete ledge and nobody has ever bitched about it, but some choose not to hit it for those reasons.

its catered to be urban. yeah it was designed in part by a snowboard team but why should urban features be any different for skiing and snowboarding? if you compare professional level movies of skiing and snowboarding theyre hitting the same features a lot of the time.

They'll never spend that kind of money on this, they almost bled themselves dry making enough snow to keep themselves open this year... and too much snow is a problems for parks in the mid-a about once a decade... wouldn't get my hopes up.

Seems to be that she has yet to read one post of the actual thread and thinks that it is still in the concept stages...

yes but its a lot harder to ollie up to stuff on skis rather than on a snowboard and the concrete may be smooth now but after a bunch of people slide it it will get rough and will be harder to hit. just what i think is the only problem with it

also, the park crew must work their asses of every day to get that set up cause some of the features look like their too close together to get a groomer in and it just looks like a bitch to rake and stuff. props to them

I filmed some people on one of the downrails for a bit but expect a full edit from me and a few others by next week plenty of skiers have been killing it.

unfortunately, the concrete is actually damn near impossible to slide on skis.

If anyone is wondering, yes, the massive closeout has already raped plenty of people, me being one of them. The main issue is that everyone that slides right-foot-forward has to lip onto it. here's its damage that I WITNESSED so far:

-I slid off to the inside- unintentional misty out to drop 12 feet to slam

-Pat Shep began to fall into nutting-position right before the end- slammed into the end with one leg and ragdoll-dub-corked off...

-Lou-dogg didn't get his tails over whilst lip-ing on- backflipped over the side

-Meaty clipped his tips on the closeout- dropped 12 feet straight to his back

honorable mention to Carson Kerr, who clipped his tips TWICE while gapping to the wallride. He loves upside-down wallriding.

Hey, that's me. I wonder what the breakdown for percent of people who spin left/right and slide left/right forward

And threads for when a ski edit drops

They really need to put this surface on all the boxes those two flat ones to like a five foot drop would be so much more fun if you could actually carry some speed

Yeah its true but its really tailored for boarders (since forum sponsors the park) so the concrete is not going anywhere. The skiers who have hit the concrete have dulled their edges and the down ledges are fine so they say. To the people above talking about falling I can validate that, as I myself got destroyed on the dfd and fell on the stairs at full speed. I literally wear nike pro combat padding under my outerwear and so far have only walked away with some bruises after taking some terrible falls. Don't know how much more im gonna hit this again to be honest considering my strength does not lie on rails at the moment. As soon as I get more shots this weekend expect pictures and an edit by early next week.

I saw park crew in there a couple times and I was surprised as to how easy it is for them to maintain it. Because of the lack of gapers, there were NO bomb drop landings, and every lip was perfect. The times that I did see them rake it was actually unnecessary. I would imagine that it's probably a bitch to get ready for the day though.

They can get to most, if not all of the landings. Plus there are hardly any gapers so the landings are always nice. I didn't land on ice once throughout the entire weekend.

this is a great idea, except for the fact that it is absurdly expensive... park crew dropped 10 grand in home depot for the surface of those 2 features alone.
