7 Springs Urban Style Park?

You realize they have permanent features at plenty of resorts. Like the stairset at loon. IT's up off the snow and they just make the in run out run match the set nicely

I still think its absolutely hilarious how hard the snowboarders at our mountain try to make springs look like a snowboard dominant mountain... In no way am i bashing on boarders ( i ride too) but ever notice how much skiing exposure we get? next to none.. Even when we outnumber the boarders like 4-1, We get #1transword ratings but when i look through freeskiier, skiing, or any other major ski magazine we dont even get mentioned.. wtf is that? just because we don't pay the magazines to feature ads?

Im sorry, but i know that snowshoe, and creek didn't even come close to springs when it comes to park ratings..

Basically what Im getting at is no matter how much cool shit springs builds it's always going to be marketed towards snowboarders, and unless more ski companies take notice it's going to continue as such..

And for the record, the pre jib will not be in the foggy bowl this year, and due to that larger amount of snow it's going to take to build it the urban park probably wont be finished on opening day either.

This is true. There are so many more skiers in the park than boarders there (not hating, i ski with boarders every day). I don't understand how every year they can make that first comp a snowboard only contest.

stoked

and for the upcoming season

Couldn't have said it better. I mean, the mountain put together a full length movie this year, all of which is snowboarding. I always knew springs was pretty snowboard-oriented, but when I saw that trailer, and the Transworld 7 Deadly Edits last year, I realized that Joel gives 0 shits about skiing.

On another note, just to clarify, is that massive 10 ft. drop rail a closeout...?

I know what you mean man, I was really bummed to see that the movie was all snowboarding, some not even at springs? come on.. i know for a fact that The Filmer springs contracts has loads of skiing footage too, never to be seen unfortunately...

It's not that Joel doesn't care about skiing it's that he doesn't care to learn something about the sport, and the industry that's involved with creating sponsored events. Not to mention it's way easier to get snowboarding events because the industry that backs them has more money.. Not many ski oriented companies are willing to foot the bill for such events.

Yes Jimmy it's a pretty ridiculous feature, it's going to have a huge 2 story wall ride at the end of the rail too! way gnarly!

I find it ironic that there is such a focus on snowboarding, not to mention the upper management is 100% snowboarders, but skiers run the mountain in every other aspect. There's more skiers, a tighter skiing community, we dominate the comps both in number and skill, but at the same time we get along with the snowboarders better than any mountain I've been to. At the same time, it's depressing to think about the amount of film that will never leave Ian's hard drives because skiing "isn't allowed" to make an appearance on the terrain parks website. That's why I'm excited to be skiing for stop29 this year. Skiers and snowboards not giving a fuck and making sick edits.

How about you stop bitching that they don't make ski videos and enjoy the fact that you are going to have one of the best parks in the country to call your home this year.

"There's more skiers, a tighter skiing community, we dominate the comps both in number and skill, but at the same time we get along with the snowboarders better than any mountain I've been to"

You're bitching about how the skiers are better than the snowboarders, and how blah blah blah it's not fair, then saying you get along "better than any mountain I've been to""

Stop whining and just get stoked to shred. Not trying to be a dick or anything. Just trying to get you to look at what you have. You can find things to complain about everywhere, but if you look at the pics of the mountains some of the nsers are riding, just be glad for what you have.

You're an idiot.

I literally just said how awesome of a mountain it is, it's just a shame that the freeskiers, who are the majority, get no representation.

I don't understand why you felt it was necessary to call me out for being stoked on how many skiers there are, but if it's just a personal issue feel free to PM me, no need to drag your sandy vag all over this thread.

Lol, every thing anyone says is now a call out I guess?

I was just pointing out that there's a lot of bitching in the thread. NBD

Seriously wasn't "calling you out". You've stepped up your bitching to another level though. Hopefully you'll be done crying when the snow falls.

I didn't realize the internet was so serious.

what happens when one of those crates doesn't have a top to it, someone tries to butter across it and boom, they fall into the pit of doom.

If Springs was your home mountain you would understand better..

Our parks from a visual perspective = Amazing, Our parks from a hands on perspective of the terrain park crew = hating on skiing

I've been with springs for years, I've seen many employees come and go, but one thing i've never seen to this day is any effort at all being put into promoting the free skiing portion of snow sports. However i am in no way salty towards boarders, because i ride with many. Basically this is what needs to happen, The marketing department at springs is like 5 years behind on the times, they still think snowboarding is the dominant terrain park snow sport. In order to fix this, attention needs to be brought to them from us (the customer), we need to send emails, blow up the FB springs page (not the terrain parks one) and tell them that we want more skiing events, and coverage of the skiing scene at springs.

They will listen if enough people make a big enough deal about it, marketing is looking for anyway to make money for springs which means the more interest they get from skiers in the park the more they are going to have to push joel to have skiing events, and more media coverage.

That is hands down the coolest park i have ever seen. I lovee the integration of urban and actual alpine terrain. This is the kinda shit i wish was in the xgames. the use of shipping containers and rails gives it a super urban/industrial look while looking really secluded thanks to the treeline.

DO WANT

so stoked for the urban park!

i agree with everything with the boarders at 7 springs tho, its been my home mountain for the past two years, but for some reason snowboarding gets so much recognition there and skiing gets very little. Truly, i see a good snowboarder tear up the parks every once in a while, but i see skiers out there every day slaying the parks. I think things are definitely starting to change tho, but if anyone has any more pictures of the new park, post em up!

who gives a fuck if seven springs upper management in park crew is more biased towards snowboarders. From what i understand burton is paying a lot of money for joel to make an unbelievable park in the foggy goggle and all you hyphy ass skiers can ride it as much as you want. sounds like a good deal to me I could not really give a shit if a ski company started puting there name on features and comps in our parks. just as long as we all have a burly park to ride I am stoked.

Holy shit this is looking intense, thanks for the info everyone! This year is bound to be the best yet. Im glad springs is doing something different. this is awesome

I guess that means Springs is doing something right... stoke level rises more every day. we need some more pictures.

Also, what is gonna go on with all the open space? Just some standard park features?

You ask, I'll deliver. I'm down in my hometown for a visit over Christmas, and I'm taking a trip out to Springs and should be filming with a few people through hook-ups, hopefully everything goes to plan.

It's cold enough to blow, but not cold enough that you could cover slopes, or blow during the day, which is what they need. Doesn't look like this is going to be one of those lucky "skiing thanksgiving weekend" years... damn shame

on the bright side, it should only be a couple more weeks, which my ankle needs to heal anyways!

on the less bright side, the chances that the urban park opens in the first week of operation is slim to none, they need a LOT of snow for some of the features.
