7 Springs Urban Style Park?

7 Springs, I'm happy for you, but god damn it, if you delay the opening of the spot because you have to blow snow until february because you want a 22 foot halfpipe that only the jean and rear entry boot wearing redneck retards will ski in there will be hell to pay...

what good is a #1 pipe on the east coast ranking if

(a) nobody uses it

and

(b) it causes the biggest park to be delayed until the last 1/4 of the season

Because no matter what we think about the pipe, it's the single most important aspect (income wise) of the mountain.. Think about it, 22ft makes it possible for bigger events and more comps.. Plus think how much snow would be left after the season for meltdown.

Bottom line, 100% of the people that come to springs will see the pipe (guest, events, ski& board) 60% will use it (Terrain park kids, families, and who ever else skis through the center), and 10% will use it properly (Us). The biggest percent is where the money that pays to build the parks in general comes from! not us poor ski bums... so no matter what we want the season will always go like so- Start of season we blow wagner, fawn, stowe, and the foggy bowl, next comes the beard, northface, lost boy, sunset, and the rest of the front face, after that comes the alley, the rest of the 9-4 side of northface, north park and finally the spot. This is the order it's always been to open the mountain from a financial standpoint, the only thing that changes from time to time is that they may get a streak of good cold low humidity weather, where they can put out a lot more snow in a shorter period of time.

You also need to factor in the amount of snowmakers, and hours of work springs allows each to do, i've seen this stop the production of snow many times..

oh no doubt spot on, I mean, thats certainly the PA struggle. it's all about those day pass buyin, ski rentin, hotel livin, gapers, and you can't hate on them because they definitely fund the parks that we get to take advantage of.

actually, i can't wait to see a 22 ft pipe on our tiny hill that is alpine, it's going to look so out of place. i also hope the jumpline gets crazy big this year, every year has been getting better with last years third jump being so prime.

bumping this for the first legit snow, first faceshots, and first park sesh of the year for me today.

Why would they do that? They have snowcats that can move the snow.

What the fuck is the point of this park though? It's like building permanent stair sets from what I understand.

FACT: gapers love skiing down stairs

I can't explain it nor do I understand it, little kids lap the park just to ski down our stair set.

sounds like its going to be a bitch for the park crew. I wonder how that will work with changing snow levels. They'll spend a lot of time shoveling snow off in the winter and shoveling snow on in the spring

The urban park isn't going to be permanent until next season, and from looking at the plans it's not going to be much cement work at all, everything will be moveable except for the foundations we poured that the shipping containers sit on.

Im excited to see how it turns out, its supposed to have 3 lines from pro to beginner so, its sure to be really intense... we'll be able to fit a cat right down the center of the park to groom, and still get where we need snow around the features.

oh and most importantly, there wont be any of that ride down the stairs bull shit because were using another kind of material on them, hope that regulates who actually should be using the features.

Biggest part that helps this out if the fact that it will be a hike only park, no rope tow, or trail that leads in from the top. But only a secret trail that most of the park rats know about ... dont be seen using said trail though.. we all know how butt hurt ski patrol gets...

just checked, and realized that the Spot opened Feb. 15th last year... I mean, I understand all the issues, and have nothing but respect for everyone on park crew and what they have done for us, but come on... Either thats gotta be open sooner or have some kind of 50-60 footer in North Park. At least something to actually learn bigger stuff on, as I'm sure big tricks will be common this year (...dubs...).

no speed in NP for a big jump...

I've always been a fan of having the spot, or north park, or even a new park, on giant steps, think about it, that slope is long as fuck, wide as fuck, and wayyyyyyy back when they even used to have a jump line there. then we could even lap the highspeed over on gunnar, but then theres the problem of lights, and most importantly, there's no way for non skier/snowboarder spectators to get over there. i think thats the main issue actually.

I'm moving my focus to rail game and urban adventures this year anyways, because as far as big jumps go for this year, i want to hit something really big so freaking bad, but my ankle is so beat and i can't see myself throwing down until it's back to 100% and at the rate it's coming, that might be a few months.

i'd just be content with some beard - helens whoods - faggy bowl laps right now, it's been so long.

its been like 5 years since they had a jump line over in that section of springs.

Pence is there a way to get like a diagram or drawing of what the urban park is going to look like

here's a start...
