655,000 Iraqis dead

Afghanistan is now a giant fucking heroin farm.

In Iraq, it's possible that more people are being tortured now than under Saddam's regime. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5368360.stm)

This is what happens when you invade countries, destroy their governments, and declare martial law without enough troops to actually maintain order. You get total fucking anarchy.

I don't know what we thought would happen.

Good thing we got Osama. Oh wait, we didn't... even though I'm sure we know where he is, it's a moot point because so many people over there hate us that he'd be instantly replaced. I'm glad we made a point of getting more people to hate us, after we saw what a little bit of hate could do on 9/11.

Don't get me wrong... I hate terrorists, but I don't want to see more people killed and that's all we've accomplished.

yah..the way they came up with the number is they took surveys from a few places in iraq, checking with families, hospitals, morgues and such to find out how many people in that area died. After getting what they felt was a sufficient sample, they extrapolated it to the entire country which gave them that 655,000 number (or 2.5% of the population). This is the second time they've done it. The first time they had a smaller sampling and came up with a much smaller number, in the 200,000s. So it's hard to say what it could be.

The iraqi death count web site gets its numbers from morgues and hospitals...though many iraqies are so used to death they just bury their dead without bothering to make it official.

Regardless...too many have died..

This crap is very hard to believe

oh yea the guy that said his "leader" wouldn't check for ied or vbied there not suppose to keep the squad leader alive and sent the privates in to do shit. That's what they are for.

Just remember how sad we all felt that 9/11 morning when we were watching the towers and the dead people on TV... 2000 people were killed, Then multiply that sadness and suffering for 327... thats the poeple from iraq that were killed since that... STOP WARS!

First of all the survey isn'yt redible in my opinion, i've taken statistics classes and their method were way less than credible.

Second, Muslims are VERY strict about the rights of their dead and those rights specifically include taking the body to the morgue and giving it a proper registered burial. So i have no idea where you got the notion that they would skip the Morgue and just Bury their dead somewhere....

I was under the impression that the Iraq Body Count got its numbers from reported deaths by the media. They said that the researchers had proof of I think 70-80% of the casualties through death certificates. There is also a huge margin of error, around 300,000. But at the lowest, that many deaths is unacceptable, and lest we forget the margin of error can go to the higher end as well.

Yah, i read a few sources that say the same thing. I can't find the recent source where i read that but this is from time online:

"It's hard to say how many Iraqi civilians have been killed in the fighting. The U.S. military does not track civilian casualties in wartime. Iraqi hospital records are unreliable, and because Iraqi Muslims usually bury their dead swiftly, deaths are not always recorded. The Project on Defense Alternatives in Cambridge, Mass., estimates that about 200 Iraqi noncombatants have been victims of coalition firepower since May 1, when President Bush announced the end of major hostilities."

So some sources must be under that impression. I agree with you though, most muslims wouldn't do that.

a kid who went to my school got back from iraq the other week. he caught some shrapnel to his organs, but hes doing alright. anyways, he was said the first week he got there he was sent to some town where they beleived a number of al-qaeda operatives were working out of. they told everyone they had 24 hours to leave and they would kill whoever was left (no one had cars or really any form of transportation). So the next day there were still hundreds of civilians left and they were ordered to kill all of them. He said he went over there expecting to fight men his own age, but not women, children, and eledrly. I dono, i geuss that just really opened my eyes to the extent of how bad the war really is. its pretty frustrating.

well if all the iraqis valued freedom and life they should have helped us from the beginning and then we wouldnt have this problem.

Ohh yeah coz an harmless family who work hard to survive can help us by capturing the iraqi armu (or terrorist how u will call them)

No, just not give the soldier's stationed there a hard fucking time for helping their asses, they should appreciate all our men who have died trying to help them.

they didn't ask for an unprovoked invasion of their country and consequent civil war. iraq owes the united states no debt of gratitude.
