$65 mounting fee...Im sorry what???

Sooooo weak, makes me wish I knew how to mount. But just dropped my new skis off to get mounted but since I didnt buy the skis there the dudes like that'll be $65. I told him I've been buying stuff from you guys for years plus I got my boots and bindings here and he was still a prick. If your from the syracuse area Im talkin about Ski Co. on the boulevard...

Sidenote, if you do know the store Im talking about anyone know who that sexy little girl that works there? she is FINE

I agree. I was talking to my friends at the local shop and they explained it to me, besides profit of course. They have to go through some certification and that costs money, and not just anyone can do it... right at least

Yea, I either pay $20 or so at the shop or take them to the hill and they'll do anything I want done to my skis for a case of beer. $65 for a mount is totally uncalled for.

Shops that charge that much usually have ill informed staff that know every new ski, but can't tell you how to make a turn.

Right, but this is all done pre-season and is include in shop over-head. Plus its olny like 10 to 15 dollars per company, per employee. I know it was 15 from my Marker certification and free for salomon and tyrolia. But seriously, ski mounting is so simple and easy. Just drill and screw.

That happened to me at the ski co. once too they said $65 and I would have to wait a week. That store is so rediculous they over price everything. I just took them to song to some guy who was really good at mounting it took like 30 mins and he did a perfect job, I think it was around $20.

i paid my shop (Alberg), to mount my skis. i paid 70 dollhairs for a centermount and a adjustment to fit my new boots. took them a month and they did it in the wrong place. never going there again

i work at a shop and we pretty much have to charge that if ur not gonna buy skis from the shop cuz we r losing business by you not getting the skis from us and the economy is in the shitter so u fuck us we fuck u thats just how it is
although u did get boned if u bought the boots and bindings there we cut you a deal if u bought 1 or 2 of the 3 nescessary pieces

I used to work at Ski Co. when they had the dewitt sports location. Most of the managers can be dicks and when they hire girls, they pretty much only hire hot girls. One time this fat chick walked into the store with an application and handed it in. And I asked my manager if he was going to hire her and he looked at me, ripped the application in half, and said nope..hahahaha I loved working with hot chicks

That place has some of the best prices I have ever seen and service is always top notch. I don't blame them for charging you so much. If they don't have in stock what you want, they will get it for you unless it is sold out. They will always work with you. Plus you have to remember that a lot of people go in and out of those doors. There's a lot on their mind. Bring them receipts of the boots and bindings you bough there, maybe then they can help you out. Otherwise, next time support your local shop. Online sucks.

I mount my own or get it done for free. There is no reason you should ever have to pay above $20 to have 16 screws put into 2 pieces of wood. Training my ass...they just show you how to adjust the forward pressure, wings, and some other shit. Most of that comes with the instructions anyway. It costs the shops NOTHING to mount your skis, pure profit. Ski shops are the biggest scams in the industry. Even the so called "legit" shops.

In all honesty, I don't think it is.
I've seen friends shops go under and a majority of it is due to online sales. If you don't want to get hit with the charge, buy from them (and the shop he purchased from has much lower prices than any shops in my current area, or any area where I have lived before. So in reality, the ski prices are no where near close to retail, and below MAP).

I walked into Colorado Freeskier the other day and wanted a mounting they quoted me $45. Its a great shop they have some killer deals. I love what gabe and jesse are doing, i still cant justify handing them $45 dollars pretty much straight to their pockets for a job that I can do myself. That is my point.

If you can do it yourself, why did you bother going in in the first place? And it's not straight to their pockets, do you have any clue what they probably pay in insurance?
And on a side note, I was in there a few weeks ago for the first time. Stand up guys. One of the nicest shops I've gone to recently.

Nah fuck that it's the dude not the shop. The hot chick was ready to ring me up for $25 and he jumped in telling her to make it $65. If anyone goes there you know who Im talking about, the big bald guy that is always pissed off no matter what, like I'm causing him a major inconvenience by spending money at his shop.

And if you can get the same skis online for $100 cheaper what are you gonna do?

Fuck em, when I go to pick my skis up im gonna tell him to "git fucked sir" summer heights high style

thats not a rip-off...

thats called a fuckin JACK!!

whenever I get new skis (usually buy em online), I have em mounted, so theyre ready to rock when they arrive in the mail

I had to pay $40 and the dick weeds mounted my invaders backwards. At least they are symmetric and its unique but how dumb can people be?

hahahah. wow. owned. i ususally do my own shit, and even when i was lazy and didnt want to freehand mount my shit, $25. for a FREEHAND mount. you my friend got raped

First off, tell that shop tech to EAT A DICK.

Then ask for the manager. Tell that fat fuck you've been paying his salary for the last few years by buying their shit from their shit store. Then tell him you bought the bindings AND the boots there and that you want a free mount. If he says no, tell them you're not gonna support his shop anymore and you're gonna advise everyone you meet NOT TO DO BUSINESS with them.

Then tell the manager/owner to kindly eat a donkey dick and take your shit somewhere else.

/end rant.

I have problems with bad customer service. 600 bones for boots, probably 300 for bindings and they won't mount your shit for free? Fuck that.

When I was working tech shop at the local ski store, we assumed mounting was free if you bought skis and bindings, and we'd usually throw it in if it was just skis or bindings. Otherwise it was standard 20 bucks for a mount, 10 for an adjustment, unless they needed a remount. But I'm sure I gave out enough free mounts if it was someone rad. 65 bucks is rediculous. If you have the proper jig, which you should have 99% of the time, a mount (regardless of standard/center) will only take 10-20 minutes. And requires no parts, save for a bit of carpenters glue. You're telling me that a shop tech's time is worth $325/hr, minus profit? Not quite.

i wish i knew how to do it myself...i think it's $30-ish here

last time i took mine to get mounted they asked me where i wanted them mounted, i said centre, and they mounted them at recommended, which is ridiculously far back on PE's.

so i tell them that i wanted it at centre mount, and they tell me i should have written it down, and i say "no, you should have written it down, you were the ones writing up my info"

and they said i had to pay again. fuck that shit.

I did..I know, but theres no other shops around here and Im bouncin for school tomorrow..

And that sucks to the guy whose invaders got mounted backwards, kind of hilarious though at how retarded someone can be, I would take them back and straight up ask the dude if he's austistic

I was asked to pay that same amount at the City Garage in WNY and that gave me a reason to learn to mount bindings myself. You should seriously just find someone who knows how to do and ask them to teach you it will save you alot in the long run and you will know your equiptment better.

It was like two years ago so I don't think they would even consider taking them back. But at least no one else has the same skis as me. Probably get some retarded looks when people notice they are mounted backwards though. Oh well.

I feel bad for you man, but I'd advise never coming to central jersey. 70 is the lowest you can get here. and its usually 80. its fuuuuucked up.

Did you show the receipt for the bindings or boots? And if I recalled you made a thread yesterday asking what bindings to get, did you purchase them there at the same time?
And I will never purchase a pair of skis online if I can get it at a local shop. Plus show me an online store that offers their 2 year trade in. I wish I had that where I live now. It's an amazing deal that I have yet to see another shop do (let alone an online shop).
And yeah, tell 'em to get fucked, be super mature about it so they can help you out next time or when you fuck your shit up. Great attitude.
Oh, and there's also Sports Authority, Labrador Mtn, Song Mtn, and Togg in the area where you could have had your gear mounted up. You did not have to go to that shop. But you still paid the price, so that is saying something.

do hills usually have that equip, because i want to get my new sticks mounted and one of the perks i have with my pass is free tune ups and stuff so i guess they could do it there, it would save time and money. come to think of it i guess if they can give tune ups they should be able to mount.

You need to take your business somewhere else.

Fuck that shop, especially after you got boots and bindings from them. I brought in gear from other places to my shop and was willing to spend $50 since he was going to bend FKS brakes and everything. HE ONLY CHARGED ME $15!!! I was so impressed by the job he did and the price he did it for I will always buy from his shop now and am recommending him to all my friends.

In all honesty, a mount takes about 10 minutes and it's easy as shit to do. I am happy to pay for them doing if for me, but $65 is him being a dickhead.

haha beer works great. a 30 rack a season gets me pretty much unlimited work. So far 2 mountings and several repairs for 16 bucks worth of beer.

certification on paper or whatever is done through a computer test and binding manufacturers web sites, its free and anyone in the shop can do it, the machines needed for DIN testing are extremely expensive so in order to pay for there large investment in machinery they sometimes charge allot , mounts should never cost for than 40 bucks though. If you have Doofus B McSneeze mount your shit at a race shop or sports mart then its going to cost you alot of money, BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH A SKI SHOP and you will soon find beer is worth its weight in shop work.

seriously. If you want to buy skis online (which harms the retail industry) then expect to pay a shitload to get tech work done.
